My boyfriend wants to get his hair straightened. He has semi-curly hair right now. I know that there is perms and such to curl your hair or make it wavy, can you do the same to make it straight, and last for a few months?
Has anyone done this? And how much does it cost?

He can have his stylist apply a relaxer which should last about three months. Doing a perm is another way, but not necessary unless he is trying to get a lasting look of longer tenure. Doing a relaxer at a reputable salon will cost approximately $50 or so dollars. You can also go to your local beauty supply and buy some. The medium strenght should work well. You brush it on, leave it for about twenty-five minutes and rinse. Ta-da!

You can get it professionally done or you can get a kit from like walmart to do it. The kits are like $4 and up. It's not hard. The straighteners are called relaxers. It will last for 4-6 weeks depending on how curly his hair is.

They apply chemicals to the hair similar to what they do with a perm. It can cost a few hundred dollars, depending. But dont' do it. It's damaging, and drying. Your roots will also have to be touched up as your hair grows, otherwise it will look odd. It's overall not good for your hair.
