I just love Derby trivia. Ok the first was Regret in 1915, then Genuine Risk in 1980, and finally Winning Colors in 1988. I worked on the farm where Colors is now a broodmare, and just so you know she is one of the hatefullest mares to ever live. This is common opinion by the way. Just an interesting tidbit about her, she was in foal to Unbridled in 2001, the foal would have been the first to have Derby winners as both dam and sire, but unfortunately she aborted due to MRLS and as yet she has not been bred to another of the Derby winners standing stud.

The Fillies
Regret, in 1915, became the first filly to win the Kentucky Derby. It took 65 years before another filly, Genuine Risk, would capture the Run for the Roses in 1980. In 1988, Winning Colors became the third of her gender to win the Derby

as much as I hate to think of that the vendors and running shoes of those horses might threat a horse for the attention of a great race and hazard for a great payoff, i comprehend that some do. Having 9 lifetime starts off, 5 wins as a 2-12 months-previous, and four consecutive wins earlier this race, 8 Belles became the main experienced horse in this years Kentucky Derby. i can not help yet think of that for a three-rear-previous 8 Belles became somewhat over-raced coming in to the Derby and that perhaps some precautionary imaging, x-rays, bones scans, etc., could desire to have been completed to make particular that there became no hidden issues and that her legs are greater healthful earlier getting into her in this grueling race. There could have been a hidden subject. i do no longer comprehend. yet absent something like that, my next appropriate wager is that she became pulled up too agressively.
