Parsley roots are not parsnips; they are different species and genera. They are also not in the family Compositae -that's daisies, asters and dandelions. They are both members of umbelliferae.

There is a variety of parsley called Hamburg that produces bigger roots that are used in a similar way to parsnips, but they're still not botanically the same plant.

No. parsnip (= Pastinaca scientific name) is not parsley (Petroselium - scientific name) roots.

However, parsley roots come from the same plant as parsley the herb - the green leaves that you cut into little parts and sprinkle over food. So you can eat the root and leaves fro the same plant.

Also, you can eat both parsnip root and parsley root, but parsnip is not as good as parsley root(at least to me). and both are kinda dull whitish yellowish, tapered roots

Parsnips and parsley are in the same family (Compositae) but they are not the same species. Ditto carrots, celery, hemlock etc. Not all are edible. I've never tried parsley roots but I'd guess they are edible.

parsnips are not parsley roots. They grow in the ground like carrots except they are a different color (off-white I think).

It is a different plant. The roots resemble those of carrots, but taper a lot more. The leaves bear some resemblance to those of radishes, and are very different to carrots or parsley leaves.
