If I were you I would put that exact number(including shipping) in on eBay for a Canon Powershot SD500 or SD 550. You may not get it at first, but you're bound to get it if you keep trying. I got mine for $179 by fluke...nobody bid on it. The 550 is a 7.1 Mega pixel with 3x Optical zoom with a huge 2.5 inch screen, and the SD500 is a 7.1 Mpxl with 3x optical zoom and a slightly smaller 2" screen. They are tiny cameras. They take incredible pictures and have lot's of cool effects. I MEAN COOL!!! Uses an SD card, plus it already has 32 Mb of internal storage space. Records medium quality video as well.
The only problem is that they have $50 batteries, so you can't use AA's. But they last a while on the battery power.
If you want to buy straight out and get a great camera for a low price, get a Sony DSC-P52. That was my last camera. It takes the best outdoor sunny pictures of any camera I've ever owned. I took some pictures on the beach once and they looked incredibly professional color wise. It uses a Memory Stick. A little bulky, but uses AA's. Also takes video, but is low quality.
For newer cameras, I'm not too sure. I always buy my newer stuff on eBay.
Be carefull shopping on eBay and remember to read the full description and look for information about damage to the product you're bidding on. Alot of people sell broken cameras to people who know how to refurbish them. Don't get screwed!

Look at Costco for the Nikon CoolPix L1. It is simply awesome. It might be about $210. This camera is probably at Wal-Mart also.
In general, when you get a camera that is great, you won't regret spending a little more. But if you get a clunker by saving $20 or $40, you will simply regret it.

I just bought Kodak easy share zoom digital camera....I love it. I got if from Dell..it was priced at 299.00, but was on sale. I think I paid 200.00 for it. It takes great pictures, is totally easy to use....I bought it for serious picture taking...they have a ton on their site for about $100...point and shoot ones. I like mine because it has a large lcd display, so you can easily see what you are photographing...and you can record short home movies too...
there is a place on the site at dell where you can pick what you want out of a camera, and they will recommend some...check it out. www.dell.com

Nikon has at least one model of CoolPix cameras (the ones that dont use a cell pack, but use regular batteries) for this price. I recently purchased a coolpix L3 for $250 and really like this camera - it takes videos and has 5 megapixels.

Cannon. I have a Power Shot A75 and I love it. It's a little outdated now, but the newer models are just as fabulous!
