Well that depends upon what COUNTRY I'm in at the time I'm eating them. When in ROME...
Europeans eat them with either mayonaise (which I actually quite like, it's got a different taste from American types) or in some countries (such as Ireland and other parts of GB) they eat them with something called a brown sauce (which is sort of like catchup).
In the U.S. the popular condiment has to be catchup the red tomato variety.

I've even tried steak sauce (UMMMM tasty) you know that popular variety that as a letter and a number in it's brand name but they don't make a tomato catchup. At times have had mustard (preferably a brown type, not the standard American yellow) and again that's quite good as well.

Another British favorite is to put malt vinegar upon them with lots of nice salt for fish and chips (again, very tasty!)

HMMM in short WHATEVER!!!! My personal taste tends to go to just plain old salt.

This is going to sound weird but I love the dip french fries in milkshakes... Try it next time you go to Wendy's and get fries and a frosty!

We have a dish here in Canada called poutine. It's french fries smothered in gravy and melted cheese.

Garlic salt. We have a local fast food restaurant in my town called Pals and they add it in their fries. They put Mickey D's fries to shame.

no longer conceivable to wager. i imagine the most appropriate position for fries is 5 adult men burgers, They use sparkling potatoes, dermis nevertheless on and fried in peanut oil. i imagine the potatoes have a lot to do with the style, sparkling is continuously going to style better appropriate than frozen.
