If it was reported stolen, and a police report was filed against you, and the ring was found, you will be arrested. After that it is up to the person you took it from whether or not they want to press charges.

When you pawn something, you are borrowing money and promising to pay it back. You are leaving some property as collateral for your promise. When you pay back the money, they give you back the property that you pawned. If you do not pay back the money (redeem the item) within a certain time, the pawn shop contract says that the pawn shop can sell the property to repay the loan. This is one of the oldest forms of collateral loan recognized by the law.
Why would someone who enters into this kind of contract get arrested? That person is not doing anything illegal, unless they did not have the right to sell the property in the first place.

Yep, if you get caught and it was stolen property. I have a friend whos in county right now for possesion of stolen property, she went to go pawn it and got arrested. She's been locked up for a month now, and will probably get out as time served once she goes back to court in two weeks, but this is LA County, the jails are so full you only have to do 10 percent of your sentence to get out.

If it is stolen property then you run the risk of being arrested. Is your Yahoo name your real name? If so, why not send an email to the local cop shop with the following details:
description and location ring was swiped from;
your name,address,phone number(s) (home and cell);
name, location, phone number of pawnbroker;
You don't sound like the brightest bulb in the pack. was it worth it?
