Everyone says that he acts like he likes me (even his mom thinks he does). Is he afraid of going out with me because he doesn`t want us to quit being friends and if so, what should i do?, or does he not like me but just acts like it? Please, help! I greatly appreciate it! I sometimes catch him looking at me and when we are together he sometimes hits me (not hard), as if he is flirting with me. (this is where i get confused) He sometimes ignores me when we are around our friends but when we are alone he talks to me. He is also sometimes mean to me.

guys are idiots! for some reason they think it makes them look feminine if they show any type of intimate emotion for someone else. tell him what you're thinking and what you've heard and ask him what's going on. let him know how it's making you feel.

Notice this: "He sometimes ignores me when we are around our friends but when we are alone he talks to me. He is also sometimes mean to me."

He's only showing he likes you when you guys are alone, most of the time. And then in front of others and his friends, he'll act like tough like he can treat you like shet. I think it's likely he just wants to keep it as friends because there's probaby something about you that wouldn't want him to be seen "dating" you in public and to his friends. Not only that, but he doesn't sound to grown up yet...if he does like you more but is worried about what others think the most, it's gonna take him time to come clean and realize it and not give a shet what others think. Just stay friends with him.
