I have been seeing the same man for 8 months now. I am staying with him now, due to things beyond my control. Four months ago, he told me he loved me, now he wants to slow it down. We are both 40 something, get along great, and everything else, so why slow it down now?
Should i stay or move on with my life?

You should stay because he obviously loves you and he feels that by slowing it down this will help you and him. He obviously thinks that you and him are moving too fast and he knows that if you two really love eachother that the best thing to do is to take it slow. Oh and i also think he wants to take it slow because by doing this he can see if you are truly the one he wants to spend the rest of his life with, and by taking it slow this will truly help him see. This same thing i just described happened to my mom and she has been married for 8yrs. now.

It all depends. If you are already intimate with him, I would suggest testing him by cutting off all intimacy in the line of slowing it down. If he doesn't want to slow that down, then he is just trying to avoid getting too serious. It all depends on what you want. If he wants to slow down any committment but continue the physical part of it, dump him because you will become one of those woman whom a man lives with for 10 years and never marries because he can get away with it.

Sounds like he is scared. Best way to find out is to tell him he's right and slow it down. That might be the best way to get him to admit how he really feels.

Slow down for a while, then speed up again, in relationships we respect others and get respect in return...

At 40 something, if he doesn't know what he what's out of life, he isn't going to. I think I'd MOVE ON!
