My husband had back surgery in February 2006 and since then he has been a different person. He is very cold, heartless and ruthless. He used to be a very funloving guy and now its like all he wants to do is abuse me verbally. I have had people tell me that either the anesthesia or the fact that it was his spinal cord that was operated on could have possibly caused this physiological change in him. Its been about 5 months and each day is worse than the one before. Anybody out there a doctor?

Yes Yes and Yes, I used to be a different person before my surgies on my mouth and had mass amounts of anasthesia administered to me and I didn't tick quite the same for quite some time. So I hope he gets better for you, it may take time, have patience or see a specialist about it.

I think it depends of the operated organ, not in the anesthesia, because I had a tonsillectomy and nobody said I changed after that...

Both times I have had surgery I go into a depression. It is a known fact the anesthetic can do this. If you can get him to a counselor that would be good. Hopefully he will agree to that.
