Well, you generally need to have superb grades and more often than not, need to have taken honors' courses. If you do manage to get accepted to a medical school plan on spending between $40,000-$80,000 a year. In terms of number of years of schooling, you will most likely need to take about 4 years of traditional college schooling before you obtain your MD. Then you need to undergo a residency where you work as a fully qualified doctor for reduced pay and learn "the tricks of the trade". Only then will most establishments hire a doctor at a normal pay rate. You must always keep current on techniques, medications, and diagnoses even after you have completed your residency as these things are constantly changing. This is a field where education does not stop and it is a challenging one if you want to be good.

4 years of college and get a BS in pre-med or biology
4 years med school
x number of years for residency, depends on your speciality.

You need good grades. I know that for nursing anyhting before a 76 is failing. I bet the grades that you need for medschool are atleast that high, if not higher.

It really depends on what kind of doctor you want to be. Podiatry is pretty short school, but neurology takes a lot longer. Do as well as you can in college and follow what speaks to you in the medical field.

She will graduate in five years with a masters in occupational therapy and then it will take her two more years for her doctorate. She has managed to keep a 3.876 GPA.
