I know some churches do. And I wouldn't trust the government. And I want to help here first sorry no room for more until then.
But I don't see groups (nice big ones) getting Clothes drives and Misc bandages, soaps and health needs, cleaning aids (personal). Self survival tools-goats, pigs, chickens ect. Books (many hard times books and enough do know how to read and many are in Spanish).

No reason with as many here who support them that this could not be done in big time way. (better than protests to me)

I feel they do need survival skills.
So why are there not more of these groups in a big way, California alone could do much--and in a real big way.??

We have problems here to take care of. What about the poor kids living in Appalachia, what about all the families displaced by Katrina, what about the kids who are loosing their dads in Iraq. Charity should begin at home. The Mexicans have had their own country longer than the United States has been a country. They need to make the changes that will bring about a better life in their own country. Why do they come here and demand that we bend over backwards for them.

Billy B hit the nail on the head. The former U.S companies that moved their operations down there should be paying those people a fair wage, but guess what, they went ther for the slave labor. Ford Motor Company will be the next to go there. And they are right, they aren't our jobs, the jobs belong to the companies, they can do what they want. Isn't it funny that the big companies from America are leaving for the slave labor, and now the once unknown automakers like hyundai are opening plants here. They can afford to do that because the unions have been busted and now they can get auto workers for ten bucks an hour. Seems funny that these companies get labor cheaper, they use less people to build a car, they use less materials to build a car now, but the prices go higher every year.
Well, the Mexicans can survive on their own, they survived a long time before we the United States arrived on the scene. I think they are attempting to destroy us from within, just like the communist said they would. Wake up America. Seal the Borders, shut the gates, stop the invasion.

Their protest should have been directed there -all those people should have went to the boarder. And made both sides listen.
No they could care less. Greedy and Self centered.
Here is a group that could take cars of stuff down and parked at the boarder until someone lets a charity come get the stuff. That amount of people could have done that. That amount of people would make headlines. No -they rather just mumble and grumble, that they are good at.

There are numerous religious groups who go down to South of the border areas to assist those in need. Most of the folks involved in these rescue missions are sincere about ther time, effort, and money they donate to help others.
The problem is, that many of these groups are lead by people who benefit in one way or another from this patronage; ie. are really there to further their own causes. (VERY USA!) ...and the poor that are being assisted know this. So they suck that much harder!
The truth be known, our government should take the ball and run with it and put pressure on these southern latitude countries to get "real" with their people policies. However, it is ludicrous to imagine the money grubbing industrialists or their puppets the American Government would dare be hypocriticle enough to critisize other countries for what they themselves do so well ...HERE! This illegal Immigration thing is just another assult on the bank accounts of hard working, middle class American citizens. They have the Poor Americans "under control" and hoodwinked with food stamps and welfare programs to date. The irony is that "predator countries" (like Mexico) are encouraging their poor to come to feed at the American public welfare trough cuz they realize the American Gov. is out to lunch on this issue. They see the hypocrocy of our system in the USA. It's just another opportunistic lurch by one country at another country's assets. The message from our lovely neighbors is clear: "You want Capitalism ...we'll give you Capitalism! Pass that buck on over here, will you?"
My point of veiw: No Way Jose! Go get your own from your own.

You're right about the churches being about the only organizations trying to improve thing for Mexicans in Mexico.
You probably won't hear about it for two reasons. The churches are not looking for publicity and the media probably wouldn't cover their work anyway.

As for anyone else doing something "in a big time way", I believe the Liberals would rather have an issue than a solution,

If you want to help raise their standard of living, the make sure the US companies that have factories and businesses there pay a living wage. IF US companies with their presence south of the border would raise the standard then other companies there would have to also to be able to hire enough workers. It's NAFTA and greedy American companies exporting our jobs there for a much lower wage. They can hire workers there for a much lower wage than is required in the US, and that keeps the standard of the country well below a living wage...The only way they can get a living wage is to come to the US and work. AND it's the fault of those who HIRE them HERE that taxes may not get paid-- Blame the managers not the laborors.

They can have all the help they want - but they have to ask for it.

I am gettin gthis really weird idea about them that their sense of national pride only starts north of our side of the border.

They are like a friend who comes into your house and takes the keys to the car and you catch him, and he demands that the car rightfully belongs to him because he is Mexican.

Whos' the real racists here?

Radio Spy, the Catholic Church most certainly let their intentions be known: They stated should it become a felony they pledge their lives to break our laws against it; one Cardinal in LA said he would do everything against our soveriegnty he could.

Of course, no such vow from them to do the same in Mexico, where it is a felony.

America is under attack. Keep disbelieveing it.

The real question is why these "millions" of mexicans don't merley demand better conditions, instead of comming to the US and marching in our streets, why not go home and march in the Mexican captitol, why not a over throw of thier government by thier people.

It is in part to the nationalization of so much of the nations resourse that is the problem and then the government not sharing this wealth.

I take it you have been and done this yourself? If not you are a hypocrite. The answer to your question is most people are struggling to feed their families and going to solve other peoples problems and neglecting their own families is just not a practical option to the Mexican problem. I suggest you rally up all your pals and show all us Americans the 'light'. LOL

Maybe there are and you just don't hear about it?

I mean...people RARELY know of all the wars that go on in Africa. Just because you don't hear about it doesn't mean it isn't happening.
