Of course there are alot of things parents can do. Among the things they can do are to provide:
1. an enabling environment,
2. offer encouragement,
3. pat on the back and help children know that they can do better, 4. resources needed to advance academically.
5. guidance when choosing Friends.- bad company corrupts

keep them motivate, healthy and active outside school. The more a child is learning outside school the more curious they will be at school. Don't try to teach them algebra when their 8, just take them places where they can explore the world around them, small historical museums, the beach, hiking in the woods, the zoo. Try to help make them aware of what is currently happening to what their seeing, for example, why an animal is endangered at the zoo, what happened in local history. Allow them to participate in sports to socialize and learn about teamwork and leadership. they may excel at that instead of their academics

when they do good in their work, make sure they know that you have their support no matter what. And always lend a helpping hand when they need it. And after every well done, give them a little gift for passing an exam or gettin great grades.

.we did the we'll pay you so much for an A, blah blah blah.
Well it worked for a while but payment at end of marking period is too long to keep them focused. So we got weekly reports from the teacher and kept them posted on fridge, they saw them and that kept them motivated. At month end we evaluated the situation and then they got thier money. Worked well for us.

Show them that you interested in what and how they are doing. You also need to take an active role in their lives as well.

Encourage them, use positive reinforcement, ask them how they are doing in their schooling, ask about things that may seem difficult to them and help them out wherever you possibly can. Support them in all that they do.
