Islam is a peaceful religion?

Read this then I ask you again...is Islam a peaceful religion? Can you honestly say that?

One historical event that is often overlooked but that is very significant when trying to understand the Middle East is the original Jihad by which Islam conquered Israel from the Romans. Israeli oppression of Muslims clearly was not the cause of that Jihad because it took place when the Israelis were being oppressed by the Romans and the Muslims had not yet established a presence there. That Jihad was caused by the commandment to spread Islam throughout the world. The late Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini explained in 1980 that:

"Our struggle is not about land or water, It is about bringing, by force if necessary, the whole of mankind onto the right path."

I'm no expert on Islam, but I would say that yes, it could be a peaceful religion. I consider Christianity a peaceful religion, yet they also participated in the Crusades, and many other battles and acts of violence throughout history. Jut sbecause one group of people does something wrong or violent in the name of a religion doesn't mean the entire religion is wrong or violent. That said, like I stated, I don't know a ton about Islam and the Qur'an, so it could be a violent religion, but I'm just saying you can't go off the actions of any group of people, but what they consider to define their religion.

And I just read that post above about Allah being so much kinder than the God of the Old Testament. Well here's some news for you: They are the same being! Islam developed from Abraham's son Ishmael, and Judaism went through Isaac. Yet Islam's Allah and Judaism (and Christianity's) Yahweh are one and the same. Maybe do a bit of research before drawing conclusions next time. I'm a Christian and even I admit they're the same.

The Koran (Muslim Bible) says if you need to convert people, do it through words, only use the sword if you have to.

But in real life, Islam has conquered many countries through violence.

It's almost like this, picture a bunch of Persian people (or people in almost any Middle Eastern country) standing in a line thousands of years ago:

They ended up conquering a hell of a lot of countries through violence.

I also don't think Islam is valid because at the end of the Bible, it says to not add or take out any words. But in the Koran it says that, then you flip the page and it starts with "Once upon a time there was a guy named Mohammad." It just doesn't make sense.

You need to state a factual reference for "One historical event that is..." ..... otherwise, you or someone else could be making it all up.

Also, when you see the word Ayatollah, that means he's a Shia.

There is nothing in Islam in which you can FORCE a person to BECOME a Muslim. Never done. The Islamic text to back that claim is:

There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Tâghût* and believes in Allâh, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower. (Al-Baqarah 2:256)

It is clear you are and some of the people who have already answered are uneducated, in both Islam and Christianity. Fanatical hate mogers come from every religion and every society. Catholic's tried it, Mormon's tried it.....etc. Now give the fanatics in Islam their place in history, blowing themselves up how long can that last. Jihaad means 'to strive' or 'to struggle'.
To strive against evil.
To strive to make society better.
To strive as a self defense in the battlefield.
To strive in the way of Allah (swt)

If anyone make a mere web site to spread the message of Islam, it is called as Jihaad. Because it is a tool that can be used for spreading Islam and the Truth. Jihaad does not mean that any war fought by any muslim for any reason. There is a misconception about Jihaad not only among the non-muslims but also among the muslims, that Jihaad means Holy war. Holy war in Arabic means 'Harbumuqaddasa'. Nowhere this word mentions in the Quran and Authentic Hadees. HOLY WAR IS NOT THE TRANSLATION OF JIHAAD AT ALL.

It is the basic teaching of Islam that if anyone kills any innocent human being, it is although he has killed the whole of humanity, and if anyone saves any human being it is although he has saved the whole of humanity. (The Noble Quran, 5:32) . Islam allows fighting as a last resort or as a self defense. Islam preaches peace.

The Quran clearly states " there is no compulsion in religion". you can't force someone to become Muslim under any circumtances. And as Taimur has said, Jihad doesnt mean "holy war". how can a war be holy? its a mistranslation of the arabic word Jihad. it means " to struggle to the utmost of one's capacity". if u exert urself mentally or spend money in the cause of God you are engaged in Jihad. It's not called Jihad when you are fighting for power.

Islam is a false copycat religion it copy's Judaism in many points. It is nothing Like Christianity. Where it differs, Judaism is based on living a life of Righteousness before God and loving your fellow man. Islam is based on hate, violence, and revenge. To this day if a Muslim converts to another religion he/she will be killed. That why Muslims strap bombs to their back and kill innocent people in the name of their god. I ask what kind of god would tell someone to do that. Only a devil would, is the only correct answer.

Judaism was given to Moses by God, where Islam was form by a man therefore false its a made-man religion. Judaism has been around for thousands of years, historical you will NEVER find a trace of Islam before 600 AD.

Islam is based on hate violence and revenage.

The only reason Islam spread as quickly as it did, Muslims would go to a non-Muslim village and give the people a choice convert or die. Once they converted they were given another choice help us to convert the world to Islam or die. That's were the crusades come in when Islam started pushing its way into Europe by convert one village at a time with its death threats. European Christian stood up against the army of Muslims and pushed them back into the Middle East. When that happen Muslim changes directions and headed into Asia and down into Africa.

The bottom line is Islam is false religion and only a Idiot would believe it in. todays Muslim wants you to believe its a peaceful religion but it is not . study history and watch its followers
