If you have your credit report, you should be able to call them and let them know what is incorrect, false, or needs updating. They will file a claim and either investigate it or have you send in information that they will be able to use to update your credit report. Also, there are credit reports/scores available from TransUnion and Experion. All three of them use different reporting methods and may all show different information, and have different scores. You can request one free copy of all three credit reports once a year on the internet, or by call the agencies themselves if you suspect that they are incorrect. They will often times send you a copy for free so you can verify the accuracy. I have dealt with Equifax extensively after having some of my personal information stolen and used by someone else. They are generally helpful, fast, and easy to deal with. Any other questions let me know.

OOOh! You can sue for that type of wrong information being put out. Actually, most credit card companies are more than happy to give credit cards to those who have filed bankruptcy. They know that you won't be able to file again for a long time, thus (at least they think) ensuring they will receive payment or they can sue you in small claims court.

Did you know that the best time of year to clean up your credit report is the 2 months previous to Uncle Sam wanting his cash you may owe on April 15th.

Sweetie? You may want to try a credit counselor. Or, you can act like the credit card companies and call Equifax day in and day out until you get it resolved. You may have to go into court to resolve it. Good luck to you as I know firsthand how miserable this type of situation can make a person. You have my sympathy!

Have bank records, put everything in writing, and keep all records of transaction. Then make copies send to equifax and the other credit reports. Get a certified receipt for them that you sent and they received your paper work. Keep all orginal papers. Call them and talk to the head person not just a regular worker. This problem will come back up again, so keep good records. You may have to contact the business were the mistake had taken place. Having them to contact equifax. If all else, you may have to get a lawer.

Request a copy of your report. Once you recieve it, dispute the bankruptcy. The information should be in your file. Call Equifax and ask if there are any documents that you need to send in to support your claim. Equifax should be able verify that your claim is correct and clear up your report.

When I was married my ex was really bad about spending money and at one point we had several credit cards open and maxed to really high limits. What I did was get a consolidation loan for all the accounts. I think the first one was $10,000. and within a few years it was paid off, Unfortunately all the cards that were put into the consolidation loan were maxed out again and then we needed a $20,000 loan! At this point I knew that If we had any cards with available balances they would be used so I closed the cards that I paid off (though I hear it's not so good to do that). It does take a few years for it to possitively affect your credit but the first thing to do is try to pay off what you owe, and taking their offer to pay it off is much better then being turned into the credit agency. You just have to prove that you are working with them to pay it off. But this is not an overnight thing, even if you get your credit report several times in one year (and I also heard that it's bad to have a lot of people look at your credit report). Also, something I am currently going through right now; try not to put large amoounts on your card or use your card often, especially if you are close to your limit. My current card is now increasing my APR for using my card too much!! (didn't know you could be punished for using your card, but yeah you can)!!

Hi there! If you haven't already, demand a copy of your credit report from Equifax. Because your credit report has directly impacted your credit availability, you should get a copy for free.

When you receive your credit report, it will give you detailed instructions on how to file a claim that your report is not correct. If it does not (or if you no longer have the credit report you received), go to Equifax.com and file there.

Please understand that the credit bureaus are not government agencies. They have 30 days from the time you dispute an item on your credit report to gain reverification from the creditor. If they do no get it in 30 days, it has to be removed.
But the question I would have is: Why did the store check your credit if you already had an account with them? What difference does it make if you had filed bankruptcy and they were not included? Sounds a little fishy.

If Equifax reports it, then most likely the other 3 agencies do as well. So write a letter to all 4 reporting agencies requesting that they provide you with evidence to support their claim. If they cannot verify it, they must remove it.

Document everything and write equifax and tell them. That should be the end of it and they should make things right. If that does not work
One letter from an attorney usually get action.
Credit can be very frustrating at times and I hope things get better for you. Good Luck

Write a letter to the credit bureau to see your credit report. Then write a letter to be placed into your file. If the report has incorrect information then the company reporting it needs to be contacted to correct it. If they don't your letter in the file should clearly explain what is the issue.
