I'm an atheist and I think there simply is nothing when you die. You don't see blackness, because you don't see anything. You don't hear nothingness, because you don't hear anything. Et Cetera, Et Cetera. However, if I end up being wrong and Christians are right, then Hell awaits me.

I don't believe in a "Heaven" exactly and I don't bvelieve in a hell. I don't know where we go when we die because I am not there yet and we are supposed to be focused on what we are doing today- not what is going to happen to us when or after we die. We need to live in the present. I think, that for a lot of us, we stick around and visit our loved ones, as spirits until we have resovled our issues in our earthly life. I don't know anything beyond that.
I have read a book by Sylvia Brown. I agree with a lot that see says in that book but I think the majority of it is just plain crazy. I read parts of it to my mom just for a good laugh.

If you drive off a cliff, does it matter what you believe will happen? If you believe that you'll float away -- or sprout wings & be able to fly -- will you? Even if you believe with all your heart, you can't make something that can't happen to come about. So it's good to ask questions -- like you are -- to find out what the real answers are. There is generally a lot of confusion surrounding the issue of death. So. I suggest that you take a look at what God Himself has to tell us about it, in His Word the Bible. The following articles are full of live-Scripture-links,

When someone hasn't been shown the Way, they are judged by law of the land and conscience after dieing. God is still the judge on where they go.
Babies who die go straight to heaven. Every child brought forth knows God. At the age of accountability there is the choice to love and obey God or to hate and rebel against God. When the Way, Truth & Life is shown to someone and person rebels there is spiritual death. All have sinned and come short of God's Glory. When person finds Salvation there is new life.
The Spiritual birth results in everlasting life in heaven. Rebellion & hate ends up in hell.
Faith, Hope & Love go to Heaven. Evil & destruction goes to hell.
For God so loved the World that He gave His only begotten Son that Whosoever believes in Him will not perish but will have everlasting life.

Reincarnation. We are born over & over again in to different lives ...our souls live forever. That explains de ja vu...rememberences of our past lives. It explains phobias...if you are afraid of water...maybe you drowned in a past life. Nightmares could also be remberences of past lives.
I believe that we reincarnate with our relatives and friends (of course not all at the same time, but I believe that is how we are always with them). I believe "heaven" is the heavens of the Universe, where our souls go when we die (back to the stars)...until we "choose" to reincarnate again...no one judges us...we judge ourselves and what our karma was, so we know what lessons we need to learn in our next lives. I don't believe in the so-called "HELL" or "SATAN"....that's a waste of time and a bunch of nonsense. Since all the different religions ARGUE who is right and who is wrong....and innocent babies and children from other countries die all over the world (from WAR...starvation, poverty...disease..etc...) and their families may have had different religious beliefs that some say those babies, children, women & men would go to HELL because they weren't baptized or didn't share beliefs of others....it's not fair to believe we are better than them....I feel better believing they are REINCARNATED to have a chance to live a better life...I mean alot of WARS were about religion...people ALWAYS fighting about it....what if these innocent people had the cure for cancer or other diseases....In another chance at life through reincarnation...they might have that chance??? Who knows? I just don't like the idea of heaven and hell...so I just don't believe in it...but I definately believe in an afterlife :)

Well, where does your dog or cat go when it dies? How about a tree? A coyote? The flesh decays, once the blowflies show up for dinner, and things disintegrate at a particular rate after that, depending on the conditions of your final "resting" place. All things have a place here if I think in terms of the balance of nature. I am fine being worm-meat, because I become part of the Earth for future generations. That's where I go. (And I step on no one's toes.)

Just cuz they dont believe in it doesnt mean, it doesnt exsist, and sorry to bust ur bubble lol but they do exsist. and lets just say, JUST for an example that there actually was no heaven and hell (which there is), well, we wouldnt know cuz we're all alive reading this question. anyway, if you believe in the Lord JEsus Christ as your Savior you do not need to worry about death. :)

Everything living dies and everything dead rots. I'm a product of nature, therefore I'm not exempt from this rule.
As for the human spirit (or soul, if you prefer), that is a function of the human brain. My brain will die shortly after my heart ceases to beat, so my spirit will also die. All that's left of me will be the memories I made for others. This does not trouble me.

If you want a good answer, go read some books on near death experiences. That part of you that thinks and is aware is eternal. Some don't know they are even dead. The best movie I saw that represented that state was "What Dreams May Come".

It depends on the person's religous beliefs. Some religions believe they will go to the Summer Lands, some believe they will go to live with their god, some believe they will be reincarnated (to learn more on their path to enlightenment or gnosis) some believe there is nothing after death. There are as many different ends to life as their are religions.
