My balance leaves me unexpectedly. I feel like I am tipping over when it happens and have to hang on to to something or sit fast. I have had this for many years. I have had all the tests and it is questionable wether or not it is menieres disease or not. There is something called Wobblers caused from over use of Gentamyicin. Just wonder what works for you!

Oh yes I was diagnosed in 1985. It is horrible. There is surgery that can be done to cure the problem, but it takes the hearing in the ear. I did use antivert but it did not help me mine was so severe. My ENT gave me valium and it is FANTASTIC! It even helpd the ringing in the ear. 20 minute or so into an episode after taking valium the dizziness is gone. It is great. Also additive but if you use it only for the dizziness that goes along with Menieres there want be a problem.

I have been told that I have Menieres don't know anything about Wobbler's Disease. I had all the test done by ENT doctor and that is what they said it was. It all started with a sinus infection and then an ear infection and then the spins came and the sick feeling...worst thing I have ever experienced. I do not wish this on anyone. They gave me meds to take for the dizziness and meds for the sick feeling. I keep them with me always. The dizziness and sick feeling has gone but I am still off balance and I also had ringing and sounds like wind blowing in my ears, which is also gone. They said I could have another attack or it may be years. I just pray it doesn't.
When it does happen I just have to get somewhere I can lay down and take my meds. I avoid caffeine and stress and salt. Hope this helps.

Okay, it's not established that you actually have Meniere's. Vertigo is also caused by labyrinthritis, BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), vestibular neuritis and acoustic neuroma, a benign tumor. Antivert (meclazine) or Valium (diazepam) may work for you but you still need to find out the cause of the problem.

Wobbler's is a disease of dogs. Gentamicin sulfate does not cause this is humans but it can be ototoxic which would result in hearing loss.

my mom had menieres, and she went to a physical therapist! 3 visits and she hasnt had any reoccurances of dizziness so far, in 3 yrs since! He said my moms case was caused by calcium deposits that get loose in the inner ear, causing an imbalance, & dizziness!
