Before I get attacked by the holy rollers, this is a quote from Stephen Hawking. He said that a universal law of everything (the holy grail of physics) would give us the ability to understand the entire universe and the ability to read the mind of God.

That's been the plan all along.

i wouldnt say mind of God, because humans are not able and not permitted to do so,, except what they have been taught by God almighty himself. as says in Quran.

".......Who is there that shall intercede with Him, except by His permission? He knows what is before them and what is after them, but they do not comprehend anything of His knowledge, except what He will. .........(2:255)

Physics tells us some laws which God has made . so this way we can better understand the creation of God. not the God himself.

Allah says in the Qur'an:
"Do those who are disbelievers not see that the heavens and the earth were sewn together and then We unstitched them and that We made from water every living thing? So will they not have faith?" ([Qur'an 21:30]:

this verse talks about big bang , which is a fact.

Notice, Islam believes that God is not in His creation ,because God is eternal , and universe had a beginning and this is what agreed by stephen hawkings himself.

"... if there were a complete set of laws, that would infringe God's freedom to change his mind and intervene in the world. It's a bit like the old paradox: Can God make a stone so heavy that he can't lift it? But the idea that God might want to change his mind is an example of the fallacy, pointed out by St. Augustine, of imagining God as a being existing in time: time is a property only of the universe that God created. Presumably, he knew what he intended when he set it up! " [Page 176, "A brief history of Time" by Stephen Hawkings]
==============================
Yes carry on discovery and inventions but No need to go beyond human comprehension and talk about God for which we donot know.

God has told us the purpose of His creation in Quran.

hope this answers.

That is a very interesting concept... I'm just glad to finally see someone that realizes that both God and science can co-exsist. But if God did create the universe, then it makes sense that he wrote the laws of physics. I doubt that knowing the universal law of everything would allow us to read God's mind, but I'm sure it would give us much better insight to how he thinks and what he was going for when he created all this. And it would ceratinly give us a better understanding of the entire universe.

Stephen Hawking makes laws for God now ?

1. And just WHAT is that "universal law"? For centuries, a simple matter about the nature of light is still unresolved.

2. If people weren't so dim-witted, ah..., sorry, that should be closed-minded, they may realize that we can CURRENTLY read the mind of God: just read the Bible!!!

The above is by no means an atttack on you.

But what if the person who believes they've found the "holy grail" ... gets it wrong?!? Like those who believed the earth was the centre of everything and that everything else revolves around it...?? Who's/What's mind will we be reading then?

I believe that if one believes that the mind of God is infinite how could that be possible? Only a very small portion of what God is can be found. Mysticism, in reality, tries to find "Who" God is. I do believe that science can prove the existence of God, but chooses not to.

Yes, or at least have the same all-knowing ability of God. Not literally read God's mind, but metaphorically, yes.

To have the ability to understand the entire universe is something, but to read the mind of god is easy: look at its followers. Say "jesus is savior", "read the bible", "go to church", "jesus is love".... is it complicated? Any "non reader of Universe" can do that

Once everything in the Universe has been explained by science, there will be nothing left for God to claim credit for.

I believe that it is opening doors to information that were heretofore closed to us. Quantum physics is revealing information that was previously thought to be simply chaotic and inexplicable. I don't think we'll ever understand it all, atleast not in this lifetime, but it is bringing us closer to a worldwide spiritual revolution.
