My husband has always talked about going skydiving. I was planning on suprising him with skydiving on his birthday. But I am scared of the risks of injury, got any advice?

Skydiving is great fun. It is as safe as any other outdoors adventure, apart perhaps from dancing with poisonous snakes.

You should expect to spend all day doing this. Most skydiving services have a half-day training course and then the first-timer goes up for a "buddy jump" That's where the novice and an experienced instructor jump together.

Depending on the airport where you go for this, the plane used may be a small aircraft that takes a long time to get to altitude, which drags out the time used for the first jump.

One note of caution - if hubby has a bad back or bad knees, ankles, or hips, I don't suggest this. He can make things worse.

An alternative to this kind of adventure, depending on where you live, is to buy him a ride in a restored WWII fighter or trainer. There are a bunch of places around the country where a guy can have a BLAST going up in a P-51!

Skydiving would make a awesome b-day gift for anyone. As far as risk of injury, most likely nothing bad would happen. Just need to find a exsperienced licenced business and let them handle all the small details.

Something I have never done but love to try one day.

Yes it is,as long as they have no fear of hieghts and not have a bad heart, they must be trained properly,i would suggest a tandem jumy at the beginning before doing a sole,he or she will love it,it would be a great gift,go to a properly authorized training club with a good record of safety.this is a must, you may pay more but safety has no cost, good luck
