If evil exists and god is against evil then god cannot be all good all knowing and all powerful at the same time.He either doesn't know about evil, doesn't have a problem with evil, or can't do anything about evil.
This is not about free will either, as if god is all knowing he would have known about evil before it happens, If he were all powerful he would be able to stop the evil, and were he all good he would not have created people who were going to do evil in the first place.
There is no way arround it, such a god would have created the universe for evil to be in it. He would have wanted evil. Thankfully there's polytheism.

You cant' expect God to be responsible for what one human being does to another, or what human beings are doing to this planet that's supporting them. It's considered wrong to murder another human being ... but the killing of animals for sport or profit is considered alright. I think we have a big problem with the way we have decided to set our values in general over many areas, but that 's another debate.
Don't forget we have Free Will, which means just that. we are free to chose what is good and what is bad. And if we had a voice in the matter, we would certainly not chose to get raped, or murdered or forced into starvation. Besides, who has perpetrated evil against his own kind... not God, but a so called "fellow human being". Why does this happen, how could a thing like this happen. How could you allow, that things like this happen at all! You need to look at the big picture. It's fine to criticize the horrible actions of others, but look closer at the causes, and you'll find that root of all evil is closer to home than you imagine. Big Business, Power Politics, Religious and Ethnic fanaticism. The list is long and the real hoodlums are actually not as many as the people that are offended by their goings on, but the sad part is that this mass of disgruntled populace (you and me), say that they can't do anything because they think they are too few and powerless to do anything else but watch and complain.
You can be sure that God sees all the horror, just as He/She sees all the wonderful things we are capable of. You see them, so why shouldn't God. The question is to ask yourself, how much is enough before YOU decide that this has gone far enough.
Take WWII as an example ... it took at least five years before almost everyone in his/her right mind decided to set out to stop the madness. Why did it take so long? Because in the beginning it didn't seem to concern everybody, just a few unlucky ones, or so we thought (just like those in Ethiopia and Asia today). Look at the problem in Yugoslavia ... that took less time ... because Oil was involved. What are the real stakes in Irak, for that matter.
I don't know, what the solution would be. I guess once a situation has gotten out of hand, you can't undo the damage. Maybe its to avoid it from the start.
Mankind is basically good. So how did we get into such a fix. Big Business and Power Politics etc. are doing what they think is best for them, just like you and me are doing in our daily lives. How do we incite the people we think hold the REAL power to do what would best for ALL! We can't force them, because we would have to use force the way they would, and where would free will be in all this. Do you think they would listen if one, two, three, a thousand or a billion said NO! Not like that you don't! Think this through. There can be ways to live in Peace, Harmony, Respect and Tolerance. But enough people have to agree to do so for it to make a difference. ... A bad dictator or warlord, certainly wouldn't get very far all by himself, now would he!

God didn't intervene because he has to be just and in order for him to punish someone for doing something bad they have to actually do something bad which means that the innocent will have to suffer. It's really sad and it would be nice if everyone were just good so that no one would suffer but that doesn't seem to be happening in our world today. The starving is also an example of how we as a society are acting because we have a huge surplus of food and could easily feed all of those people if we really wanted to but we just sit back and think that someone else will do it. I am just as guilty of this as anyone. We are all on this earth to help each other we should not expect God or someone else to do all of the work.

Do you mean JON Benet Ramsey?
And do you consider young beautiful women more important than the rest of us?
And when God DID intervene on behalf of numerous other people throughout history, and DOES provide relief through numerous world hunger & charitable organizations, do you just completely disregard it so you can keep on complaining?
Maybe God decided to give us free will to CHOOSE to be His hands and His feet to rescue these unfortunate individuals, and be part of the SOLUTION, instead of part of the problem.
Tell me, how much have YOU ever contributed to an organization dedicated to feeding the hungry? How many hours have YOU volunteered on a crisis hotline or at a shelter for battered women?
Probably not even one dollar, right? Or one hour, have you? So stop your whining and be part of the solution!

It's too bad that you're blaming all of these on God, rather than on the imperfect human beings who created these incidents and situations.
Are you actually doing anything about starving people in Africa -- like donating money to charities that work there, or maybe sponsoring a child there?
Or is the issue of starvation in Africa simply your baseball bat with which to beat on God?

Murder and starvation are not part of God's plan! Human beings are on this earth and we live in a world that operates under the laws of nature. We have complete choice and "free will." Some people choose to hurt and violate others.
Why is it comforting to people to believe that pain and suffering are part of God's plan? Maybe God hurts and suffers when we suffer, and is in solidarity with all those who are starving...

Well if God stepped in to save everyone then nobody would learn any lessons at all. If people were saved all the time from death and the only way people died was from old age then we would be for one over populated as a planet. And two Sometimes tragedy strengthens the faith in god. If you look at it another way, If people who die go to heaven then why get so bent out of shape about something bad that happend on earth....if they are in heaven then they are better off.

It was their time to be with Him, obviously.. God gives people free will to do what they want, and people decide to do dumb things and kill people. They will suffer in hell while He takes all the people who suffer to paradise with Him. Don't think in such a worldly way, to God everything is different. People who go to heaven are so happy they on't remember the pain they were in on this terrible earth. They are all okay, and those things happen all for a reason.. you just have to except that we are like kids to God, we don't know everything, but we think we do sometimes.. Just accept that humans are merely part of the shadow of God's greatness. Bless you!!

The thing that alot of people don't understand is that God probably wasn't asked to intervene before it was too late. You can't blame him for not responding if you didn't ask him to.Alot of people think it's Gods fault when something bad happens. The people who are starving is their governments or dictators fault not Gods.Natlie Holloway,Lacy Peterson,Jon Bonet Ramsey died because of evil people driven by Satan, not because of God.God wants us to ask he doesn't force. That's been my own experience anyway.

He is your God as well, by the way...and He has them with Him now I assure you...quite safe and healed.
If you have a bible it would be a good idea for you to read Isaiah 45:7. God announces He makes evil and woe ..and goes on throughout scriptures to say that those things are tools for us to use as measures of each of our own lives. If you do not have a bible .. here is a link to one online so you can look it up .. www.blueletterbible.com ..the drop down menu is where it says Genesis. Just open that list and scroll down to isaiah..then write on the line next to it where it says chapter .. 45 ( replacing the 1 ) and click "go to verse" ..
Evil is finite. Goodness is forever alive.
