There are two parts of a flat stomach:
1) Toned abdominal muscles.
2) Low body fat content, especially around the midsection!
Running will help you reduce that stored body fat. To get the rest of the way to your goal, work on your abdominal region with Pilates or perhaps:
Crunches
Oblique twists, and;
Leg lifts
Good luck!

Running outside will create less tension in your ears the tredmill. I suggest you run at least an hour or 45 minutes each day to get quick results. It is better to run in the morning then in the afternoon and night. If you run an hour every morning or walk or jog and kept this up for 3-4 months, yes ure stomach will be flat. BUT remeber to not eat at night, to be more specific after 7:30. Also remeber just because u exercise does not mean that you will get a flat stomach, DIET matters too.

Running is as good an exercise as any for losing weight. I would suggest running longer on fewer days rather than short runs every day. Outside is better, more varied than a treadmill. Remember to warm up beforehand.

if there's fat there, ANY kind of exercise will burn it. you should keep the distance low at first and work your way up. running outside would be more interesting, due to the change of scenery.
however if it's cold/rainy where you live a treadmill would be better.

running or any other kind of aerobic exercise can help. but the key to burning fat is to simply burn more calories a day then you eat. try this website fitday.com
