Hey, kids, be grateful you have parents! When I was young enough that both my parents were alive, I went through a phase where I knew my friends much better than my parents -- or thought I did. But you know, I can barely remember any of those friends' names now. And even though both parents have been dead for some time, I can remember them much more clearly, and remember facts about them much more clearly.

Now if you edit your question to "Do you like your friends more . . ." or even "Do you understand" or "Do you appreciate," etc., we might have a more meaningful discussion. But you know your parents from early childhood on, and it is very rare for a friendship to last that long. Also, friends talk about themselves to a more limited degree, and you have less verification about the truth of what they tell you. With your parents, you have your grandparents talking about them, your aunts and uncles, and they talk about each other. That adds up to more information than you are likely to have about a friend.

at an early age, usually pre-adolesent ,our friends have more of an influence than our family. This goes on until early adult when u find your own nitche. Your friends play a big part of your life earlier, that is why it is so important to choose the right friends. One doesn't realize this until you begin to think independently or hope u do. If you have had a good upbringing even with friends your family doesn't particuly(sp) care for. You will revert back to family values and what you have been taught. Families values do make a difference throughout life.

Definitely. I spend far more time with my friends than I do with either of my parents, and I am friends with them because we have the same interests, so I think it is inevitable that I should know my friends better than my parents.

Well, maybe we feel sometimes we know our friends more that our parents, but sometimes is not like that. we are more confident to friends maybe because we are ashamed or afraid to tell our parents but i was disappointed by my best friend after 7 years and now i know that i shouldn't trust her so much.

nope. I know my parents pretty damn well actually. I probably know my husband better than I know them, but I don't particularly want to know my parents' intimate details, so I'm cool with that.
