Damn... look at all these fools talking on about "islam" when I'm talking about NATION OF ISLAM- the black liberation group. Fools don't even know what NOI is before they try and answer the question.

OK Mateo, I'll try to clear this for you.
Nearly every religion in the world has been named after either the person it has been associated with or the people or nation from which it originated. Ex: Buddhism from Buddha, Christianity from Jesus Christ and Judaism derives its name from both the tribe of Judah & the country of Judea where it was born. This is true of all other religion but not so with Islam. Islam enjoys the unique distinction of having no such association with any particular person/people. It doesn't belong to any person, people or country.
It is a universal religion. For everyone. The relationship b/w an individual and God is a direct one. No intermediatry. Thus there is no "joining" BC you're not joining any group/nation/person. It is exclusive for everyone or none.
Ok , i just learned about NOI, yea White man can join NOI. Every one can join it. Sorry, everybody misunderstood you. BUT THAT IS NO REASON FOR CALLING THEM FOOLS !!

Considering that one of the NOI's stated goals, at least in the past, was the complete separation of blacks & whites, I don't think they allow white members. It's rather odd when you consider that Islam is the most inclusive of religions, but when do people that interpret their religion ever really make sense?

To all of those thinking that the Nation of Islam *is* Islam, no it isn't. They are two distinct items.
Islam is the religion founded by the prophet Muhammed, with adherents of all races and colors all over the world. People who practice this religion are called Muslims.
The *Nation of Islam* is a US-based organization of African-American Muslims currently headed by Louis Farrakhan. This is the organization of which Malcolm X was once a member, then left over disagreements with the then leader, Elijah Muhammed. Their current message, under Farrakhan, is one of racism, anti-Semitism, and exclusion.

The Nation of Islam uses the name Islam for credibility only. If you are interested in it, I recommend the biography of Malcolm X, which should lead you to the real Islam. Good luck.

You have to remember this There is a difference between an Muslim and a Moslem. But the answer is yes for either one. But I will strongly suggests That you do some research before you do and some real soul searching.Before making a decision such as the above.

From what I've heard (speeches, news, etc.) these people (black Nation of Islam) are extremely racist against white people, are anti-American, and the last (speech) I heard they wanted to kill all the white men and take white women as concubines (slave wives).
Check it out for yourself. I couldn't find the transcripts of the speeches I've heard promoting the murder of white men and rape of white women, but it is alluded to in other articles. This first link is of the NOI website and the other is to a list of black leaders, including NOI leaders, who promote the murder and rape of whites.

I am not that knowledged on the Nation of Islam, but why not just join Islam? It only takes a second, with firm belief in Allah as your only Lord and the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as His Last Messenger, and it doesn't differentiate between race/ethnicity/color/gender (anything.)
Islam is for all of mankind.
P.s. Muslims also firmly believe in Jesus (peace be upon him) as one of the very honored Prophets of Allah as well.

Not sure, but as I'm sure you know, the Nation of Islam has completely different believes than Islam itself.
