the answer is yes, my sister in law had her stomach removed due to pre cancerous lesions (it was ugly) she eats normally, just very small amount, nothing spicy ever. the surgeons left a small portion (like in a gastric bypass -only the opening is way smaller) YES A PERSON CAN HAVE THE STOMACH REMOVED please read below Total gastrectomy: This operation involves the total removal of the stomach, and is recommended if the cancer is in the middle or upper part of the stomach. If you have a total gastrectomy, the surgeon will try and make a new "stomach" out of intestinal tissue. Usually the end of the esophagus is attached to part of the small intestine and some extra intestine is also attached. This can make room for food to be stored before moving down the intestinal tract, and will allow you to eat some food before getting filled up. No matter how effective this is, people who have a total gastrectomy can only eat a small amount of food at a time. Because of this, they must eat more often.PEOPLE CAN HAVE THEIR STOMACHS REMOVED AND STILL LIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my understanding is that your stomach is not much more than a storage place, while most of the digestive process happens in the intestines. You have to eat smaller amounts, but it's possible.

well you can have a bypass surgery done. Most vitamin absorption occurs in the beginning of the small intestines so you'd have to eat much less and slower, but yes you can live.

i doubt it very much .. i know you can have part of your stomach removed or stapled

example: for patients who are obese some have parts of the stomachs cut away, some place a band around it to make it smaller and some doctors staple the stomach

Not at all. If you do you'll die. Your stomach is connected to parts in your body like the throat and your intestence . So if you cut that of, or so ever, you will die. You couldn't eat at all!

No. I don't even think you could even eat. Maybe you could even DIE. Don't try to remove your stomach because maybe you could die.
