Definitely swimming is the way to go. I have bad knees, too, and it's no-impact, but gets your heart rate up to give you a good workout. My dad's doctor recommended this for him. Also, aqua-aerobics classes are offered if you're not a strong swimmer. The water keeps you buoyant and the exercises will not impact your knees. Good luck!

Jumping on a mini trampoline. But if you have bad knees, then aerobic exercise, of any kind, won't work for you. Try swimming. It's great exercise and easy on the joints.

Then you probably would want to try exercises that people in wheelchairs do - since most aerobic activity is going to involve your legs. Maybe you can try swimming. Sit in a chair and swing your arms back and forth, maybe with weights. You can even put weights on your ankles and do leglifts. I'm sure there are videos or something on the subject. Good luck!

Probbly the best exercise for you is swimming - all around excellent exercise, good aerobics and anaerobic. It is the easiest on your knees also, as the water supports you whereas in other exercises your legs to the supporting.
My brother had his knee replaced, and was told it would be the best exercise.

Another option might be trying water aerobics (aerobics done in a pool). You get the cardiovascular workout, but the water helps support your joints as you're moving, preventing pain/injury. A lot of gyms/YMCAs offer classes.

Swimming is an excellent aerobic excercise since we use all of our body when doing laps, whether you do the dog paddle, the side stroke, the breast stroke, the back stroke or the cral the water resistance we dont feel ourselves working out, brcause the water aids in lifting or moving our muscles for us,WHen you excercise with enough oxygen it is called aerobic excercise.Excercise without oxygen is called anaerobic. SPRinters are anaerobic.

Get a gazelle!!!
My grandmother had bad knees also and could not walk or run or jog, but she loves the gazelle. I convinced her to get one after I got one for myself. They're only $100 for the basic model.
Try it!

Eliptical, Rowing machine, bike. Read up on HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). Fun stuff once you achieve a reasonable Aerboic Capacity.
