Honestly have you ever prayed for a God to reveal itself, whether the Christian God or whichever, and nothing happened.

In order to avoid the apologists, this applies to you if you asked sincerely and honestly and nothing happened (in the way that humans know nothing happened, no difference at all)

Actually, I wasnt looking for apologists to quote scriptures.
I was asking for those named to tell us if they have done so.

I did so quite often as a child, an adolescent, an adult, a Catholic, a non-denominational Christian, a theist, a nihilist, and an agnostic.

No answer.

My mother raised me Jewish before my father presented me with a more interesting alternative. I prayed and nothing happened. This does not mean that my prayer wasn't sincere, or that there wasn't a need, simply that god isn't a Cosmic Santa. Looking back I don't think I would have been inclined to answer my own prayers. giving an eight year old boy a god that grants wishes is a bad thing.

The difference now is not that I get my wishes granted, but that I get a response. The Sumerian gods pay a lot of attention to people.

I'm guessing more people than I realize, but I believe everything happens for a reason. Jesus or God said in the Bible that he would not reveal himself to anyone on Earth, something to the extent that it's too much for a human to grasp or to take in and that if you saw Jesus on Earth, you would die I think, but read that particular verse(s) in the Bible to be positive. However, I have prayed and it has made a difference. If praying could be used like a genie, everything would go perfectly. Do you really think God wants our lives to be perfect? I believe he presents us with obstacles so we will know how great Heaven really is when we get there if we get there and you have faith in him and believe in him.

I also agree with truth4u, that's some good advice!!!

Yep. I used to be Christian. I wanted a God to exist because it would make my life seem a lot easier, anything bad happen and I can blame it on God. Thinking that once you died there would be some afterlife. So I prayed that a God would exist and show himself to me. Nothing happened. I always figured it was BS, but that about did it for me. That and reading the Bible.

Obviously you like wasting your time thinking that something is hearing you that will guide you with the light from a life up above. Say this prayer with me-Dear Lord Creator Gifted God of the universe and All things living and joyous-I praise thy Name oh holy one and beseech you to lift your wisdom to the heights that my brothers and sisters in this world can all see you in your glory and magnificence so that we can stop fighting one another and live in peace upon this beautiful creation called Earth for Generations to come knowing that our love for life is only surpassed by your grace and honor and considerable Love-Please God I Pray that you will give us this day a day of enlightening all souls so that I no longer have to worry that my fellow human being is going to suffer a miserable burning event in the hell you created to punish the wrong doers. Lord if you would just appear once for all of mankind to see then wouldn't the evil things men do xcease to exist. Lord please show us your Big Bright Beautiful self so we may all live in peace and Harmony forever amen!

i'm an atheist.
i used to pray ... but the concept of pray is like concept of mind power. today modern psycology, modern self-development has prove that if you pray and that if what you pray happened. it's because your mind power but it must follow the law of nature. (ex. if you pray that you'll never get old physically, that's against the law of nature)
yup sometimes nothing happened. just a more comfortable feeling but it is because the nature psychology of mind. (i don't want to explain details here) not because of outer forces such God. (well it also depend on how you explain God itself)

Yes. I asked, and received no response. The normal theist response is "well maybe you weren't listening". I was a child, and ready to believe, but there was nothing. This is when I began to question His existence. I still question it, but am quite a bit further on the skeptical side.

I've never believed in nor prayed to any god. But I'm still openminded about it. The day a god shows me that he exists is the day I'll believein him, and the day I'll begin praying to him.
