Maybe it's the problem solving aspect of our natures; we immediately see what has to be put right.

As thinking creatures though we have to try and overcome it; i do my best to praise and compliment my friends and colleagues in little ways all the time. It's nice to see the little glow it creates.

Because it makes them feel good about themselves. When giving a compliment it almost feels like a weakness, admitting that someone is better at something than they are. Like coming down to that person's level or below. It is easy to criticize because it makes people feel more secure and superior than the other person.

Sadly, it's easier to shout something down than build it up! Also to praise or compliment something is an endorsement. People are reluctant to do this for fear of ridicule or culpability.

I guess it is easier for all of us to criticise others before challenging our own behaviours and lack of qualities. In my experience many of the things that we are critical of in other people are projections of our own inadequacies. It is as if people are mirroring back to us those things we can not identify in ourselves.... it's a thought anyway.

I also believe that it is much easier to put down someone for what they did wrong cause it may make you feel better, but it takes a bigger person to praise someone.

Those people are not raised properly. They don't want to praise because it would somehow mean that they were inferior. Or jealous.
