I am unable to get my scanner to be recognized by my Windows XP system.

Your OS can run it.
You must be check hard driver for scanner. You can download driver scanner from that : ( http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=27309 ). After installed, please restart your computer.

No, i dont have it runnig on windows xp (dont have the scanner) stick in the cd and follow the instructions usually some big poster sized sheet.
