Is "it" the baby? Yes the baby should be cleaned thoroughly, sometimes with a splash-bath in the sink. But the baby's skin is too tender to hose it off if that's what you mean....
Every woman/mother you know (your mother, your wife, MIL, random women at the supermarket) will be quick to give advice about the baby: be ready with a quick "thank you" but know that the wife's opinion is the MOST important one on all things baby.
It's good that you're anxious, because that means you're paying attention. Keep paying attention and you'll be fine. There are some big changes ahead, and the journey is amazing.
Good luck!

Congratulations on your impending fatherhood!
Changing a diaper is not at all difficult, especially if you're using disposables.
1. Take off the old diaper, wrap it in on itself & put in the diaper bin.
2. Clean baby off with a baby wipe (or a warm, soapy wash cloth), remembering to go from front to back if it's a girl, or covering up the front while you work with a washcloth or towel if it's a boy (don't want to get 'squirted'!).
3. Put a little Desitin or A&D ointment in the baby's bum (to help prevent diaper rash).
4. Put on the new diaper. Front up, bring in the sides, then tape.
Voila!
You'll be fine. Just relax!

I assume you are asking about the baby's bottom. The best way to change a diaper is to use the upper part of the diaper (from across the belly) for your first wipe across the bottom and butt. Then you will want to use a warm washcloth or diaper wipe to finish cleaning the bottom. You can use plain water on the washcloth but holding the baby's bottom under running water will not remove the feces (poop).
It shouldn't take too long to get the hang of it...don't be afraid to plug your nose until you get used to baby poop either. It can stink as bad as beer farts! LOL.
Good luck.

"rinse 'it' off with water...?
You mean the baby? Only thing I ever used.
Diapers won't rinse. You put them in a diaper pail, and your wife washes them. Kidding ladies.
You probably will be using disposables anyway.
Prepare yourself! You may be cleaning walls, crib etc, anything that can be reached by those sh$%%^^ little hands. LOL

Before the changing, have all your needs in front of you......diaper, ointment, powder, wipes.
If baby is wet, you can just use the wipes to wipe him down. If baby is soiled, it may be best to wash him after you wipe him down. That way, he may not get a rash.
When you put the diaper under baby, try to remember to put cream on his bottom to prevent rashes from when he wets and poops. Sprinkle powder on him.
HE SHOULD BE GOOD TO GO
HOPE THIS HELPS

you cant rinse off disposable diapers, they are to be thrown away!
use baby wipes to clean the baby after you take the diaper off, make sure to clean really well, then put on the clean diaper.
DISPOSABLES are better

It really is not a big deal.
baby wipes work pretty good as most of the time it isn't that messy.
if it is, yeah sure you could rinse it off.
Most hospitals have parenting classses for new parents.
I would highly recomend looking in to them. I believe most of them are free.

you can rinse off with water if you have a rag to wet then wipe, n which case why not use a wipie? its not always a plesant job butt only gets worse. the first poos of a newborn really are not that bad, its as they start getting bigger and eating more n more solid food that they get worse. ha ha
congratulations and good luck!!!!!!!!!!
