Its already pretty cheap now. You can get XP for like $40 on ebay and the PRO is like $70. I dont think I would ever pay more than that for those two.

Most of the money from sales of XP is coming from corporations that have to have multiple, licensed copies. And the corporate changeover from XP to Vista will take many, many years, as businesses are often way behind on the latest operating systems... largely because it's so expensive to buy all the new copies. Some smaller businesses still use ME, or 98 SE! So you probably won't see much of a price break for a while, sadly.

I don't think the price will come down any further. The system specs you need to run Vista are too high, so demand for xp will continue. Plus support for xp will need to continue so Microsoft will justify keeping the price stable to pay for the online support and updates.
Most business' wont need Vista and wont have machines of that high spec, and they won't be happy about having to change their o.s. too often.
You can get a legal o.e.m. copy for about £60 if you buy a mouse or something.

I think what happens is.. the price stays the same, and MS tries to sell you a LICENCE of Vista which also lets you install XP at no extra cost.

The price will most likey drop, after new systems have Vista preinstalled on it. But it will not drop a lot.
