Before you pick up and move, you need to get an honest opinion from someone in the industry who isn't trying to take your money (a drama teacher or acting coach) and try to get your headshot & resume out to agents. The industry can be full of unscrupulous people who want to take your money, sell you classes, or steal your soul. Know the industry (and SAG regulations) before moving.

As far as areas, there are thousands of young hopefuls who need roomates in the area. Check the LA times classified sections for more info. This really is the best way to get started in the city. You'll be able to make it to auditions in no time and be close-by for urgent call backs.

Break a leg. : )

Truth is every place here is expensive. I moved out here little over 2 years ago and was shocked at the cost of living compared to Ohio where I use to live. I got lucky and was able to find a townhouse way under priced in Panorama City. But still what I paid for this place could have got me a 5+ bedroom house back east! I don’t know what your means are but if you’re looking a some what affordable place that’s in a good neighborhood you may need to go out as far a Palmdale. It will be long drives to your auditions in la. But rent will be cheaper and you can feel safe at night.

There aren't any decent places and they are al expensive. Aso, everyone andtheir grand,a in LA is an actor or actress, so you will likely just end up being one of billions. Better just go back to college.

I think city of El Monte has the lowest rent. It is a decent place, too. (e-mail me for more information)
