Consider this---You will never have the chance to go on this type of mission again. You may go on a senior mission, like I want to do, but i did not have the opportunity to go on a mission as a young man. I wish that i had the opportunity you have right now. Do not squander it.

You get to KNOW that the church is true. BAptising people into a religion that you arent sure of yourself is just crazy. (Have a strong testimony) The two years you are gone will be the fastest two years of your life and you will fall i love with the people in ur area. Its inevitable.
Consider the following- You will mature faster than any friends that you leave and so when you get back, they might not seem so "Cool" Most missionaries realize what is important to them while serving the Lord and so that is an added bonus. As far as drawbacks/struggles. Prepare to follow the mission rules. Girls- Off Limits. Those kinds of things. Money- If you/ your family cannot afford it, the church will offer to pay for some missionaries I've heard. Talk to your bishop/stake president about that. ALot of people are willing to pay for any worthy missionary- Money should not be a reason for not serving. I havent served a mission. My brother gets home in 5 1/2 months. He says its the greatest thing he has ever done for himself. And that you have to WANT to go, or you wont be there for the right reason and might not stay the full two years. I honor you for at least taking a look at serving a mission. That says alot about you. Whatever you decide- Make sure its from your heart. Good Luck~

First you should consider your worthiness. If you are not worthy to serve a mission, then get worthy. Make sure that you are serving your mission because of a love towards God and His children, and NOT for the glory of men.
A mission is a wonderful experience to learn and grow. The Lord can make more out of your life than you can. You cannot build the Lord's kingdom without building yourself. Not only do you help people to come to know the truth about the Saviours love for them, and bring souls to know the joy of partaking of the fruit of the tree of life, but you also come to feel and know of it for yourself.
Continue to read the Book of Mormon daily. Consider the feelings that the spirit whispers to your heart and you will know what to consider with respect to a mission. Continue in prayer to the Lord, and serve with all your heart. There will be times on any mission where you feel down, lonely, and incapable. Trust in the Lord and He will help you. Make sure that you take care of your health. Eat right, eat breakfast, get enough sleep, and don't work faster than you have strength, but be diligent.

If you're not LDS
....contact the missionaries
Listen to the discussions
attend church and read the book of mormon
pray to god and ask him if it's true
If he tells you that it is, then join the church
continue to study, talk to your bishop and prepare for a mission 12 months later (minimum)
If you are a member:
do you know if the church is true or not?
-If not, you need to find out (see above)
Talk to people who have served missions. There are some that have had bad experiences, however most will call it the single greatest experience of their life, inspite of the poor living conditions, limited entertainment options, guild-producing meetings, interesting food, language barrier, etc.
I served a mission in Europe. It was hard, frusterating, and discouraging. However I learned so much about the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Lord and his plan for me, how the holy ghost communicates with me and guides me in my life, and how the scriptures can teach and guide me constantly.
I would not trade the experiences that I had on my mission for anything.
My Uncle never served a mission and at 65 years old still talks about how it's his biggest regret of his life.
Good luck, and may god bless you.

I was once a Mormon Missionary. It was awful! I would probably have enjoyed prison more. You have to break rules to stay sane. If you get a bad mission president or APs they can make your life miserable. You can get stuck with a companion that you can't stand for several weeks. You're not even allowed to read books other than the 5 missionary library books and the scriptures. The reason for that is so you won't find out anything that would make you question stuff.
If none of that bothers you then go and have a good time. Sucker.

Please ignore all the ignorant anti-Mormons who know nothing about the church and think it's founded on Joseph Smith. Your desire to devote yourself to preaching Christ's gospel for two years is wonderful and worthy, well done. Just look at the sheer number of people on here who need to hear that message!
You might consider going out on splits with the full-time missionaries in your ward once in a while. Speak to your ward mission leader, or a friend who has returned from a mission, and ask about their experiences. Ask for an interview with your bishop and definitely speak to your parents. Will they support your decision? Will they help with the finance?
It's an awesome undertaking, and not for the fainthearted. Make sure your testimony is rock solid and you are prepared and able to give up everything - TV, girls, music, sports, speaking English... You will be fully committed to the Lord for two long years. But it'll make a man of you, and you will love it.
As to where you will go, obviously you get no choice, but while you won't necessarily get somewhere you want to go to, you will definintely go to somewhere you won't want to come back from. And you will be where the Lord wants you to be.

GOO0! Go on your mission! Good for you! DON'T hold back. Don't get married till after your mission. This is one of the experiences in your life you will wish you had if you choose not to go. You will fee guilty, embarrassed, left out. Go on a mission. Don't have second thoughts. Trust me! Just make sure you have enough money when you get back to start back on whatever you are doing.
You might also want some experience with ward missionaries, people who served a mission, and missionaries in your ward right now. My message is GO!
GOOD LUCK. Congratulations

Well...
ARE you a Mormon, first of all? Thats the first step. Second step is, are you worthy? Have you done or are doing aything that would intefere with your progress as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints?
Are you mentally mature?
Do you have a strong testimomy?
Are you motivated?
Do you want to go for all the right reasons?--That is to help the rest of Heavenly Father's children make it back to where you are hopefully heading?
Think about it, pray about it, and YOU make the decision.
GOOD LUCK!!!

that is honorable. But check on the Internet with an open mind about Mormonism. Why not just become a Christian without all the baggage and regulation ? Christ has set us free to serve Him without having to please a heirarchy.
Mormons do good things, but Does the Mormon leadership have the authority to claim they are the 'true ones.

Mormonism is a cult based on false beliefs, some of which are laughable. Just because the Mormons us the name of Jesus Christ in their title does not mean that they believe in the Jesus of the Bible. The Jesus that the Mormons teach never existed. Stay away from these people---their teaching are pure poison and they will lead you to hell. Jesus Christ of the Holy Bible is the only Jesus to be worshiped. He is the only Jesus that loves you and that died for you. Trust in him and gain eternal life.
