Christian means a lot of things for a lot of people. The point is not what it is, but how to control people in the name of christianism. It is valid for any other religion.

A Christian is a person who has been saved by the Grace of God, Through Faith. You become a new person. You no longer enjoy the sin you once did. You turn from it. You seek God for the will of your life. You put your Faith and Trust in the Lord. You have a new song in your heart. One that wants to serve Him. You have a desire to tell others about God, and how to be saved. You pray, you go to church, you read your Bible. You live your life apart from this world. You let your light shine for Jesus. Thank God He saved me, and changed me.I Praise His name for it all.

The word Christian means to be 'like Christ', which means that to make that claim is to prove one self a liar. Beyond that, a Christian is one who follows Christ.
This I believe; http://homelessheart.com/testimony.htm

It's fantastic, you get to be totally self-righteous and tell other people that they better believe exactly as you do or their souls will suffer pain, torture and agony for all of eternity. And if you do something terrible your self, simply say a few Hail Marys and claim the devil made you do it. You can't lose.

It means you've given your life to Jesus Christ. You've accepted His swapping places with you; He took your burden, died on a cross, but rose from the dead, conquering death. So we no longer fear death, and our lives are given to Christ; we live to serve Him and follow His commands, which are conveniently written in the Bible. (: But of course we mess up. However, sanctification is a long process, but once you've accepted Christ, the Holy Spirit will never leave you. Anything you want to know, ask!! But sometimes we need to be patient for an answer. “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. " -Matthew 7
I pray that you'll find the peace that comes from knowing Jesus Christ!

To be a christian you have asked God into your life, and ask him to forgive your sins. He died for us, and you have to accept his sacrifice to pay for your sins. The rest of it isn't what you have to do. You just have to accept God's gift. But afterwards you could walk away and do the worst stuff and you'd still be a christian. Not a walking christian, but you'd still have God's gift. But i am not saying to walk away from God. He loves you and wants you to follow him. Just accept his gift. He wants to have a realtionship with you.

To take up your cross daily and love others as Christ loved you. It means to reject yourself for the sake and love of others... It means to aknowledge weakeness in the flesh and to obtain grace and mercy from the Father... only then can you overcome the world.
