If you think about it, every war that i know of has started from religion. we are always quick to blame other religions when something terrible has happened, or other religions are quick to blame us. There will never be a compromise to who is are "true" god, so should we just abandon religion completely?

Religion is not the SOURCE of all evil. It's just the means through which it comes up. The source is greed, selfishness, etc. And it is realised through (or accounted for by) religious reasons or pretexts. If there weren't any religions, some jerks would still want to declare wars (because wars are great business) and there would still be poverty, hunger and injustice, but there wouldn't be so high a support among ordinary people, because they wouldn't buy those arguments like "There have always been poor people", or "Yes, they're suffering now, but they won't in the afterlife", or "They're suffering now, because they were evil in a former life" I've actually heard a religious (non Christian) authority in my country, Argentina, justify that a child was raped, saying she was evil in a previous life, so "it's not nice, but it was a natural thing"! I can't believe these guys have any followers! I can't even believe these guys are not in jail!

Religious beliefs are the basis for much "evil" in this world. The ones that make being human a negative thing have wrought great harm to our species.

You'll notice the ones that do all originate in the mid-east. Their 'god' and the Garden of Eden story are based on the Anunnaki, not the creative force of the universe. That is where the problem with the darkness of their religions lies. Take the 'alien' factor on the attached link with a grain of salt but it's a good read for some truths about it all.

Well not every war is caused by religion, like the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Civil War (the latter of which was, however, somewhat fueled by religious beliefs, it didn't start because of religion. Although it's not for certain, Lincoln might have even been an atheist himself.) However, too many wars have been caused by religion. Although there will be some people who turn to crime without religious fears to put them on the straight path, I think less people would ultimately die/be hurt if there were no religions.

every war was started by religion? the indepence war ,civil war , war of 1812, WW1 WW2, Koren and Vietnam had no religious over tones ( though after hearing about the nazis treament of the jews we should not have sat bac)k. then the nations of Russia and Chinia do not have any religious bases would you have liked to live there throughout the 70's or 80's where the just come in to a house and take people away?

No, God said God is the Source of all that is and will ever be. God said directly He is the maker even of evil. ( Isaiah 45:7 ) Evil is only a tool and is finite in nature. Goodness goes on forever and ever. Mens rules and regulations ( religions ) are not of God. Jesus explains the difference between mens rules and Gods in Matthew 15.

Evil would exist even without religion. There is more to evil than just war. Other heinous crimes such as rape and murder would still occur. There would still by drive-by shootings, there would still be crimes of passion and there would still be serial killers.

Religion will always be around even if people would like to ban it. In fact some countries have and it was still practiced in secret; the more you force religion under ground usually the better it flourishes.

Yes, it started in the Garden of Eden. The serpent introduced it. Ever since then, God has been working to reunite his mind with man's mind. It takes a long, long time. And yes, war has been the vehicle for change, throughout most of man's history. Recent developments lead me to believe that God's plan is working. I speak of 'Passive, Civil, Disobediance'. It is a non-violent vehicle for change, that has been demonstrated in several cultures, via several religions.

In the end, there will be no religion, and people will not need to look forward to heaven. In the mean time, pray...

No. People need something to believe in, a set of moral rules to follow to keep themselves in line. I don't subscribe to any particular religion, but I acknowledge it's necessity. As long as people have primal instincts, we are going to need moral rules to consciously counteract them. Many people don't understand that doing bad things comes back around to harm them, and they need someone or something to help them know what's right and wrong. I think religion's scare tactics are great for keeping the masses in line. Simple laws alone wouldn't work.

On another note, what the hell is Sean talking about?

Theres a code to the Bible that teaches us that it is the word of God. The first page is page one. Then on the next page it is page 2. 1+1 =2. Then on the next page its page 3. 2+1 equals 3. You see this throughout the entire book! on every page! that if you add one to the page number from the previous page you get the number of page you are currently on.

This proves the Bible is the word of God

No,i don't think it's the source of evil.Someone said(i really don't remember who):"If people are acting like this when they have a religion, imagine how they would act if they hadn't had one".So i think things could be much worst without religion.
