Me personally I wouldent call them I am pretty sure u had a logical reason for bitching him out. So if he can see why you did what u did he should be man enough to call u.
Lets say you just got annoyed and said what u said then yes u need to call for what u did

Call when you know that he won't be there, and leave a simple apology on him machine, without making excuses. Don't mention going out, or even seeing each other in person. Just apologize and say bye. Real men will respect that, and then he can call you back if he wants, and you avoid a potentially awkward situation.

Give him a few days to let him cool off, and then offer your apology. Offer also his favorite drink, dessert, NOT BOOZE. And offer sincere apologies for whaever you said, AND DON'T DO IT AGAIN. Deal with the daddy issues elsewhere if you want it to work out.

if possible, make ammends. not only so he'll try to forgive u, but also for your image's sake. u never know what he might tell others about what u said. and yes, men do talk! if u dont care about this, leave him alone. theres just no point.

If you did that to me, and, then, you called me, I would think you were pycho and needed professional help and wouldnt have anything to do with you...
Face it, with you "dressing them down" (polite way of saying it), who would want to put up with you? Not me! Thats for sure...
Get some counceling for that anger management... You can certainly benefiet from it.
