I am starting high school this fall and I have to get a physical first. My mom made the appointment already for next week. What do they do? Will I have to get blood taken? Do I need to get shots?

They will take your blood and most likely you'll get shots. It's about time for your tetanus booster for starters. They will give u any other shots u have missed or are due for.

I have never heard of high school requiring physicals for admission. This is news to me. What you will get is a general physical. The doctor will examine your eyes, ears, throat, take your blood pressure, and ask if there are any conditions that you have which you want to bring to his attention. Blood work is usually not done on this type of general physical, but this depeds on the doctor. If your shots are not up to date, then you will be getting those.

No shots. They just ask you some questions and check your bones and reflexes and breathing. The may check for hernias in which case it could be a bit uncomfortable but you'll be fine.
