Good question - some do it because they feel most things in their life they cant control. some because they think it is part of being a real man. some because they hate themselves and feel weak. and I am guessing there are many more reasons. Many years ago most men where brought up this way. Times were different and women were more like slaves then mates but times have changed and women are more equal so this says that things are improving and with saying that and in time things will continue to change so people learn to respect other people regardless of their sex or anything else for that matter.

All people have what child psychologists call a "need for mastery", which is basically just a description of a desire not to just know something, but to be good, very good at it.

Problem is, Men in particular have at any given moment, 10-20 times as much serum testosterone as women do, and this makes men more competitive. Meaning, any insecurities or loose ends or inadequacies they have regarding "mastery", especially in social situations, are going to be *amped up* relative to most women.

Not that I am saying control isn't an issue with some women, it is, but competition doesn't enter the picture quite so easily as it does with men, and there isn't the hormonal drivenness.

Bottom line is: *nobody* wants to feel like they have no control of a social situation, and when it gets competitive, you get the added pressure to *win* and not lose, and when it gets sexual, you get the pressure to *perform* and not let people down.

Most men handle this okay, but a few do not. My apologies on their behalf, as someone who has control issues but has some perspective on them too. ;)

Hope that helps.

Because it makes them feel better about themselves, when they can control someone else. It gives them more self esteem. Because their self esteem is so low. They probably may have also had a parent who controled them so much, now they always have to be the one in control. Usually men that control women, for some reason don't like them very much. So they don't respect them. And controlling them is disrespectful!! They enjoy it.

well some women do the same, its beyond me they might have had a bit too much ego on toast and they feel that women like that much ego but the women choose to go out with these poeple, thich is really stupid of them and then they complain because they got hurt for some reason. if you dont like the controlling type dont go out with them.

Men don't feel a need to control a woman. Boy's feel this need, and it is due to several reasons. They are insecure in themself, they have a father that treated thier mother like this, thier mother was weak and allowed this behavior. It is a form of abuse, and you need to be cautious if you are involved with a guy like this.

Some men are dominating so they like to be in control.

They feel powerful and important that way. If they WERE powerful and important, they wouldn't have to control anyone. Women respond to kindness, and respect, not control.
