Honey bees generally only sting to protect their hives. The bees that are capable of stinging are the female worker bees. Bee stingers are barbed and, after being thrust into the skin, are left in the skin but are pulled out of the abdomen of the bee. Poison sacs are attacked to the stinger and pump poison into the wound. Some people are very allergic to the poison and must be taken to the hospital. Others can get by with applying ice packs, calamine lotion, or taking antihistimines. The bee dies after losing its stinger, but you probably won't!
The widest part of this stinger is about 40 micrometers.

Yes, the bee's stinger is barbed, and usually stays in the skin. The poison sac is also attached, pumping venom into the victim. You need to remove the stinger. Scrape it out with something like the edge of a credit card. Don't use tweezers, as that may leave some of the stinger inside.

yes, the best thing to do is to make a paste with 1 teaspoon of baking soda and about 1/2 teaspoon of water. Spread it over the sting area and let it dry. Once dry, scrape it off with a credit card, driver license, or something like that...it will pull the stinger right out!

Most of the time the stinger will stay attached to the skin and as long as the stinger is pulsating it is pumping venom in to you ...... the best thing to do is scrape the stinger off with a knife blade, do not try to remove it your fingers because you will end up squeezing it into you......After removal, try a paste of baking soda and water,it will draw out the poison........

Depends on what kind of bee. If it died after wards the stinger is most likely still in you.

My nanna always made me suck the 'sting' out, the pain goes away very quickly but it tastes horrible.
