Well, if you want to do it by the Book, first you figure out whether you're ready for a permanent relationship, find yourself a nice MOS that you want to spend your life with, then make all the plans for your life together, then:

Leave father and mother

Become united to your spouse

Become one flesh (that's the sex part).

Notice the order of these steps. It's not an accident. As I always say, Breakups aren't supposed to happen once you've hooked up. Better to do things by the Book, then say 'What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder'(2) and then live out all the years God gives you together.
