Your smell is being caused by the pee still in your rug.
I know you shampooed it but do you have a carpet liner?
The carpet padding needs to be changed. You need to change the carpet, install new stuff. Use 1 litre water to 1/2 cup of bleach and wash your base boards and preferably the raw floor that was underneath your carpet before you put down a new rug. Then Air your house out for a day or two.
When it gets rainy the pee deep in the rug and the carpet padding get wet and the dried pee DEEP down gets stinky again.
I apologize deary...but you have got to change that carpet. Try some laminate flooring. It doesn't absorb pee. =)

1) Try a ridiculous about of Urine Gone (as seen on TV). It worked well on a small bathroom rug that one of the cats was 'mistaking' for a litter pan.
2) If that doesn't work, you'll need to tear up the carpet and the padding. Kilz the floorboard. I would advise getting new carpet, but you can try the Urine Gone again and see if it works this time. Sometimes, it's just the floorboards that reek.
3) Avoid vacuuming that area until you know the smell is gone. Otherwise it's bye-bye-vacuum. It will stink like no other.

You have to have the carpet taken up, and have the floorboards underneath resealed. After that is done, the smell will go away. Until then, everything else will just be an attempt to cover the smell, which will likely result in a flowery urine smell :)

It's time to tear up and remove the carpet. It will be worth it in the end. You can clean under it and maybe you will like the floor. Buy a cheap carpet if you are on a budget, you will be so much happier. P.S. your yahoo face looks sad, cheer up put a smile on her!!
Good Luck

I had this problem with my puppy. She refused to go outside. I went out and purchase a steam cleaner (250.00) w/ pet deodorizer cleaner. I used it every week but now every two weeks. The puppy is trained and u can't tell i own a pet when u walk in my apartment. I also stopped using the powder carpet freshner, instead i use the vacuum free w/ pet sanitizer. It works miracles.
good luck

I have used Febreeze spray and also use Clorox wipes throughtout your house on everything and use baking soda on the rug in your rinse n vac and see if that works. I have also heard that usiong vinegar in a cup in the room will draw out the smell. Just sit cups of vinegar around for a few days and see if that works to draw out the odors.Good luck.hope these idea's work.

Have you tried soaking the exact places with nature's miracle? and I mean SOAKING. Pour a bunch on the spots and leave them to dry on their own. That might help. If not, then the carpet is going to have to go.
