I don't think you need qualifications to work in a pub, except the ability to work hard, be honest with money, be able treat customers courteously and smile.
If you want a career in pub management/hotels then contact websites for details eg Weatherspoons, Youngs etc.

my wife was a pub manager a couple of years ago & she definatly had 2 do a course , most of it about sanitising the lines properly and of course she had 2 learn all about the liscencing laws and health and safety issues , but that was 2 become a manager also she had 2 be a bit into the paperwork side of the pub it is very hard work with fairly small renumeration and do not 4 get when the last punter leaves you have a few more hours work 2 do before you can crawl into bed maybe 01:00 or 02:00 in the morning then up early 2 start again the next day ,Then u have 2 take into account there is allways a chance for violence to erupt ! mostly when a regular punter has been 2 a late bar and decides he wants a late drink after hours also u must keep a wary eye open 4 any body dealing on your premises all that is your responsibility too the other thing is keeping out under age drinkers a pub getting a reputation as youth club is a sure way 2 lose your licence and get a hefty fine and do not give anybody a slate ! if I have not put you off it can be good fun if you have a high yield pub but trying 2 scratch a living from a back street local is not so good and most management companys are pretty ruthless when a house do,s not make its monthly target !

in the uk you don't need qualifications to work in a pub, You do need to be honest, trustworthy with money, hardworking (its not rocket science but it ain't a walk in the park either!) and be a little bit / or a lot outgoing.
you can get experience working in a pub and then when you feel more confident speak to your landlord / manager about getting your personal licence. this means more responsibility ie. bigger fine if you serve someone you shouldn't but its an interesting course (usually only a day) and it teaches you about licencing laws and health & safety type stuff.
you could always contact the bigger pub chains and see if they do some sort of training scheme for managers. or conact your local FE College
i've been working at my local for the last 10 years on and off but with longer opening hours its more tiring now than ever before and i get to go home on a night time, poor landlord & landlady still have work to do when we've all gone home for the night and way before we get there in a morning. its a very challenging job but if that what you want to do then go for it. Good Luck !

The only qualifications you will need to work in a pub is if you actually want to run a pub and that is known as a BII National On licence, which means you are allowed to serve intoxication liquor for consumption on the premises, but if you just want to be bar staff and have someone to answer to ie a boss then you don't need qualifications for that.

If you wanted to work in a pub kitchen then that's where it gets complicated - your local college should run an On licence course - look into it - but its hard work if you want to run or own your own pub

Good luck

Where I live, pub servers are normally required to have FoodSafe and Serving it Right. The first deals with techniques to prevent food spoilage and food poisoning, while the second deals with serving alcohol in a safe manner and knowing when and how to stop serving to a drunk person. These are the Canadian names for the courses, you would have to find out their UK equivalents. Check in the classified section of the newspaper and see if any pubs list qualifications in the job postings, or contact a local community or technical college.

Your local college will probably run courses on pub management etc. Get a prospectus from the college and check it out. You should get yourself a bar job as well as it will help you with your understanding of the industry.

Try the Open University. They offer a 3 year honours degree on pulling pints and dealing with the public.

Your further education college will advise and offer all sorts of catering courses according to the level you need and the experience you have. The local authority will also tell you what sort of things are looking for in cetering staff (that they either employ themselves or in the kitchens they visit.

Most places now like you to hold a personal licence to serve alcohol, though I don`t think it is a legal requirement. Depends on the establishment as well I think. Your local college wiil be able to help.
