You're only allowed one carry-on luggage and one personal item (like a purse or briefcase). As for bags you can check in, I don't know many people that bring more than two so if you can just check 2 and carry one, you should be all set. I hope you have a great flight!

You are allowed to check two pieces free of charge and they must be under 50lb each and they must be 62" linear and under (thats the total adding up length + width+ height). Carry on's you are limited to two total, or the phrase is "One carry on and one small personal item such as a purse, computer bag or briefcase." The main thing is one item must fit in the over head compartment, but not take up the entire thing, it must be under 22" long...and the other must fit under the seat in front of you. The weight limit for carry on is 40lb. Although we do not weigh carry on's if it is obviously over weight, it will have to be checked.
Items are no longer allowed to be gate checked with the exception of wheelchairs or baby items such as strollers and car seats. So make sure you adhear to the 2 pc limit and size policy. Otherwise you may be sent back to the ticket counter to check in your additional piece. Gate checking is no longer allowed per TSA guidelines, although some gate agents will do it in a pinch just to get you on the plane. Also crews can not store anything in their closets anymore either.
Get TSA approved locks. They have the master key for all of them. If you have a camera that still uses 35mm film, take it in your carry on. The machines they use for x-ray (for checked bags) are magnetic and will expose the film making it unusable. If you smoke, leave the lighters at home, they are not allowed beyond security.
Hope this answers any other questions you may have. Enjoy your flight!! (Be early too...cut offs are usually an hour before departure in some airports. 30 min is not enough time in most places to be checked in with boarding pass in hand)

Domestic flights allow only ONE Carry On bag to be placed on the overhead bin, and 1 bag for either laptop, or personal effects...
Bags that are checked in is usually One... although some airlines allow two.

you can have one carryon bag to put in the overhead plus your purse ( carry a large one) and luggage you check is limited to a certain pound amount. Check with your airline for the exact amount. Make sure you put a change of clothes and any medicines you might need in your carryon. ALso don't pack any aeosals tehy will leak dueing the change in altittudes the plane goes through .

you need to check with your airline....
generally, you can have 1 carry on, and two checked bags....( plus your personal pocketbook, if it's not the size of a knapsack )
but, as airlines are different....it's always better to check first, than be sorry later...
