It took me so long to get over my first love, is it because it's you first experience.

remember, first love is just that - FIRST LOVE... that does NOT mean BEST LOVE...give it time... the feeling will pass

I think a more appropriate way to put this question would be;
Do you ever FORGET your first love? And the answer is "NO", you don't.
And you shouldn't because your first love is the one who made you feel something you never felt before, it was new, a mystery, a wow, what is this going on kind of thing.
It was butterflies in your stomach, and a spinning in your head, one that changed you in ways you don't know about or expect.
It is a memory that makes you smile as you grow, putting a "warm fuzzy feeling" in your heart.
First loves are just that, "first loves" and in order to benefit by them you must leave them where they started. People have first loves very young, and people change with time. They realize that the things that were important with the first love are not important when it comes to "real love". They usually look back as say, "What was it that I saw in them"? That's perfectly ok as you and them are no longer the same people.
So, enjoy what was then; in your mind and your memories and leave it where it belongs, in the past. It will save you the emotional baggage of "wondering" when you do.

Smile, it was fun then, and life is too short not to enjoy those special feelings and moments of youth.
