Los Angeles is a good place to visit; it's HUGE... better to live in the surrounding areas...like South Pasadena, San Marino, Redondo Beach--these are in Los Angeles County. Might want to visit for a few days and check it out yourself... You might like the night life though.

I'm a so cal native and would not think of living anywhere else except in So Cal. As for "LA" well, I live in the OC, south of LA. I grew up in the LA area and visit my parents all the time but I prefer the Orange County community.

People say its expensive to live here. Personally I can't tell because to me, its what I grew up in. Its the cost of living that I am used to, so I guess if I were to visit outside So Cal I would say "Geez, its cheap out here".

The housing is the most expensive, and the closer to the beach you are, the more desireable and expensive.

I love the fact I can wear Shorts and Tshirt almost year round, and in the winter, a good jacket is all I really need. The coldest winter I've experienced was in the 40 degrees, and the hottest summer was about 99 degrees but its a dry heat and in the shade you can cool down. The extreme temperatures only last a week or two (sometimes three) so you don't really bother with a high heat bill and you can live without air conditioning. Of course A/C is a luxury worth having!

A person who comes to California generally loves the weather. The traffic stinks, but you get used to it... or at least I have because its just a part of life here. No different than an East Coast person used to the subway or whatever is out there.

If you give someone the chance to live out here, I'd say 90 percent would take it... its just that nice here!

How do you know your boyfriend is getting a full time job? Did he already get the job? If so, is it near Burbank? NEVER assume that you're just going to bag a job in a few weeks because that has proven to be unlikely. Did you ever consider the fact that LA is not the cheapest place in the world? Coastal California is the MOST COVETED area which means MORE $$$. Affordability does not exist in Los Angeles. Starting prices begin at around $1000+/mo. and that's usually for a studio in a somewhat decent area. And those luxurious, modern looking condos you see in the movies and television programs are not common in a typical Los Angeles neighborhood. Common condos/apartments/studios in Los Angeles are old, ghetto-looking buildings, and those do not come cheap at all as mentioned above. Jobs are also nonexistent at the moment. Unemployment rates have jumped to 13% so good luck finding a job. Keep in mind you do NEED to buy groceries, hygiene products, clothes, gas, electric, water, insurance, car, etc. and none of that is going to be cheap neither. Also, you're going to need to save money for doctor visits and need to keep money in case something critical happens to you (you'll never know!) Speaking of cars, you NEED a car in order to live in Los Angeles. The roads in Los Angeles are not bicycle friendly and things are not conveniently located, unfortunately. The insurance for the car is not going to be cheap since the rate in Los Angeles are high and the gas prices are going to make you want to move back to your hometown. Also, keep in mind that there is NO SUCH THING as a "safe" place. You can live in a "safe" place and still have a looney neighbor that decided to get drunk and run over an innocent child playing outside with his car or a guy that has beef with another guy in your neighborhood and decides to pop a glock on his head. And moving here to be an actor/actress is one sure way of saying, "You'll either be back home, in pornography, or dead on the streets in a few moths - to a year." There are literally MILLIONS of people who flock to Los Angeles for that dream and only less than 0.5% actually make it and only a small fraction of the millions that come actually have LOADS of experience.

Hi,
Yeah it's a great place to live if you have a lot of money or don't mind having roommates to help with cost. There is a lot of smog, traffic and everyone is always in a hurry! I'm trying to leave and yet I'm a scared. The weather is great! Back to the money thing rent is very high!!!! and so is the gas and the transportation here well it stinks!

not really. if you have a lot of money i would try next door in Beverly Hills but LA is too dirty, dangerous, and a lot of crime. the houses, if you have regular amount of money, are small, in gang streets, and way less than you deserve. VISIT BUT DON"T STAY!!!!
