From Anaheim Stadium (about 2 miles from Disneyland) there's the Metro Station. The Metro station will take you to downtown LA. I believe the metro is $12 and from downtown LA you can take the red line to the Hollywood area.

You really should get a car if you want to venture around LA to places like Beverly Hills, Hollywood, etc. Its about a 45 minute drive and the LA area is spread out.

I think Universal Studios has a deal with Anaheim that they'll take you up there for free, providing you buy a ticket to their theme park. Check Universal's online info.

Enterprise car has a weekend deal, and they'll even pick you up from the hotel to their rental site. Go online to get the info.

PS: November is rainy season and the sun goes down earlier. I wouldn't take a bus or train after dark if you are not familiar with the area.

Depending upon which hotel you're staying at (if that's the case), some offer day trips via small bus quite inexpensively. We stayed in Orange, and a day trip into LA was $12 round-trip.

Local buses are fairly cheap but I can't remember exactly how much. They don't give change on the bus but you can buy tokens which work out cheaper.
