I don't want to sound negative. however, i think it depends what you are looking for in a vacation. The actual falls are beautiful. However, the surrounding town, people and atmosphere is carnival like and quite disappointing. What you see in the pictures is a close up of the falls and you never see the horid mid-way and main drag (clifton hill) which surrounds it. If you do go I would only stay a few days (max) in niagara Falls. It is a bit of an amusement park.

If you do find your self in Niagara Falls, you might want to make a quick side trip to Niagara on the Lake. It is a cute little town nearby which has Fort George - this Fort is from the war of 1812 and adds a bit of history to your trip.

By the way, N. Falls in the winter is fantastic. you can't do all the same things but it is spectacular with a lot less people

Just got back.
Need to go on the Maid of the Mist and the Skylon or high tower on the Canadian side to get the full view. The fireworks were nice. They only have them on certain nights. Hiking and bicycling up and down river seem like fun. If you have time, drop by Niagara on the Lake town toward Toronto. If you like the view, stay at the high rise hotel on the Canadian side and just sit down and watch the falls and rainbow. The light show was also good at night when the colors of the falls change.
Try to get as close to the falls as possible, perhaps on the US side to feel the incredible water rushing by.
Enjoy.

i imagine it quite relies upon on the time of 12 months. in my opinion, i'd bypass for Niagara Falls this time of 12 months (summer season time) with the aid of the undeniable fact that's perchance to be cooler than southern Florida and not an area you would prefer to take a visit in the autumn, wintry climate or early spring. i love Miami and southern Florida, yet would prefer to bypass in the wintry climate months or "shoulder seasons". between the humidity, afternoon thunderstorms, and conceivable hurricanes in Miami this time of 12 months, i'd stay away until eventually a minimum of October -- if no longer later. desire this facilitates. and performance exciting anyplace you bypass!

I was there in 1999 and really enjoyed myself! Aside from the falls of course, the casinos, (especially the new one!) are fabulous! If you like shopping, you must go to Clifton Hill. There are the most darling shops there! You will enjoy yourself!
