Whats the deal with people asking about their weight being considered fat. I am 5'6 and 135 pounds. I know i am not fat. And my firends are always there to tell me that I am not fat when i do think I'm fat. But there's younger girls 10-12 posting questions saying "I'm 5'1 and 60 pounds im too fat, i need to loose another 20 pounds to be skinny?". I mean do there parents know that these girls are anerexic/belimic? And if they do why aren't they doing anything about it. It's not normal to think you have to weigh 40 pounds to be skinny, it's just not. But why do they think this, whats wrong with society? It's alll the celebrity world, it ruins our world. So what makes these girls think they have to be so skinny to be good enough? Does anyone agree with me? And i know that it can be hard when you weigh more then people, i mean my whole life my cousin weighed like 50 pounds less then me, and it does have an impact on what i think about myself. But why do young girls do that to themselves?..

I would say that you are perfectly healthy weight wise. Now there are three basic body types ectomorph, mesomorph, and endomorph. In lamen's terms here's how to identify them. Ectomorphic bodies naturally have low fat due to high metabolism, but it is difficult for them to put on muscle or fat. They can literally eat anything and not gain much weight if any at all. Mesomorphic bodies have a moderate metabolism so they can burn fat and build muscle with a healthy diet and regular exercise. Endomorphic bodies will have a lower metabolism and while it may be easy to build muscle mass it is difficult to not be overweight. So think about where you might fit into, there are varying degrees of each. Also there is a disease called "Body Dismorphic Disorder". This is a mental illness where the patient thinks there body looks comletely different than it actually is. Typically this is linked with anorexia and bulemia. You and I see a super skinny girl, but when she looks in the mirror she sees herself as grossly overweight. Very dangerous disorder.

In the end if you look healthy and feel great than that's all that matters.

Take it as a compliment, most people in this world, even those who criticize skinny people, would like to be skinny. It is better, it is universally attractive and basically always has been. You're able to move around better, you feel and are lighter, it just is an overall greater experience, however being fat is overall a richer experience, because it is so multi layered and allows one to develop a degree of understanding that someone who is thin and has always been, will never recognize.

Everyone blames something for the problems of the world...with skinny girls it's "barbie" or "television"....I'm chubby and I accept it. Yes I do get out and exercise...and I eat "right" for the most part....and I'm chubby...I am who I am and I am NOT going to change just to make everyone else happy.
On that note I don't think anyone is ever happy with their bodies LOL
But as to the skinny girls thing is sad...it really is....I look at this world today and it is all based on apperance and it's sad....it really is.

It is because of the media....they are driving our youth crazy ( and that includes boys too). Everywhere you look, they have stories about weight loss, and pictures of celebs who might be 10 pounds overweight ( at the most ) and calling them obese. And then you have people like the poster above calling people fat...which is so cruel. I agree that we need to be fit, and healthy, but we also need to be realistic, and remember than being pin-thin like Nicole Richie or Hillary Duff isn't exactly healthy either.

YOU are not fat. 135lbs is actually the ideal weight for your height. the younger girls are probably affected more by what they see on tv because of peer pressure and the desire to "belong"- or at least not become a laughingstock.
