We (Christians, Muslims, and Jews) are all from the "Community of Abraham."
And in a way everybody on earth, if you go back far enough, is from the genetic stock. So depending on how far you want to go back the answer to the genetic part of the question could be yes or no.

Abraham fathered Ishamel and Isaac
Isaac fathered Esau and Jacob
Jacob is Israel

The arabs are the sons of Ishmael and the sons of Esau, for they intermarried in the days after. Many of them are Muslims, but the term Muslim refers to a follower of Islam which can be anyone regardless of race.

The Israelites(Jews by race) are the sons of Israel(Jacob). The Jews by religion are the followers of Judaism, in which the twelve tribes were set apart from the Gentiles but a Gentile could follow the religion as a sojourner among the Jews but have no inheritance among the sons of Israel.

The Christians are the followers of Christ, though originally they were Jews for the most part Paul set out to preach the Good News to the Gentiles as instructed by Jesus.

All these terms are quite simplistic except Jew because it has two meanings: someone who is a descendant of Israel or someone who adheres to the beliefs and customs of Judaism.

Actually yes, and it goes back further to Abraham and Sarah's time. Remember Sarah had a maidservant named Hagar? Abraham conceived a child by Hagar who was named Ishmael, and supposedly he went to "the land of the west" and founded a great nation, Islam and the prophet Muhammad many years later. So Isaac (Christianity) and Ishmael (Islam) shared the same father in Abraham. It's said that although they share the same father, they also share their mothers' animosity toward each other.

The Story Behind It All:

Abraham had a wife, whose name was Sarah. God had promised Abraham a son, through whom all the nations of the earth would be blessed, but Sarah seemed to be barren. Not willing to wait on God's timing, Abraham and Sarah agreed that Abraham should take her maid, Hagar, and have children by her. Hagar did, indeed, have a son, whose name was Ishmael. Later on, of course, God's promise was fulfilled in Abraham's wife, Sarah, and Isaac was born.

Ishmael is the son of the slave girl, born of impatience and disobedience to God.

Isaac is the son of the true wife, born of God's will.

It is no wonder that there is animosity between them.

And may God have mercy on us all.....

No. Arab Muslims are true Semites. The "things" we call Israelis today are actually Ashkenazim Jews; a mongrelized, Asiatic race. They aren't genetically related to any of the original Middle Eastern peoples.

Actually I think it goes back to Abraham's two sons. Israelites come from his wife Sarah's son Isaac and Muslims from his maidservant Hagar's son Ishmael.

Aren't all people, to some extent? At some point, people diverge into groups, families, clans, towns, cities, countries. They take their religion with them, it diverges or they accept a new one. I think the argument should be valid, we're all human and many of us believe in a higher power. But it doesn't seem to be that easy.
