WARNING: For those of you sensitive about Catholicism, do not read.
I feel that Christianity is too finalized. They took the first thing they saw, and without proof, called it history, then Christianity. Who is to say that Judus's bible isn't true? It's on the same ground as our bible, we don't know if either is true or not, and we discriminate against Judus's bible. We always protest so strongly against ENTERTAINMENT like Passion of the Christ or Da Vinci Code. Even POKEMON! Why don't we ever give things a chance? Why is our religion based and finalized on such things? We talk like every single thing is evil! Why?

About the Judus thing, I'm just saying it as an example. My point is, that they should be more open about how they treat things. While I KNOW that it doesn't agree (it came up in my mind while I was proof reading my details section) there are many religions, with many beliefs, where is the truth in all this? Why is THAT the truth? Why ISN'T that the truth?
Yeah, that was spazzy. And to jessicadamours, thanks for the compliment...I feel happy...but I'm eleven, I won't be think about that children thing...(okay, don't mind that part anymore)

I keep blabbing, I'm sorry, but you people are really wonderful. I have to say.
I'm just questioning their reasoning for why they discourage somethings. That's all. I'm just curious.
Once again, you people are truly wonderful with the thought and sincerity you put in your answers.

Christianity is not open because people are so critical of others. If we make one mistake then people look down on us and make the remark "and your a christian". People forget that we are all human and we all sometime or other make mistakes.

It is good that you question these things. The next step you should do is to research on what you have said. Have you checked ancient near-east historical records and Roman historical records? Have you asked who and when the different books of the bible were written? Do you know what are the gnostic gospels and their origin? And when was the 'Judus's bible' written? I'm sorry, I think you meant the Gospel of Judas that was 'discovered' recently.
I do not protest against Passion or Pokemon or anything you mentioned here but I agree that Christianity is 'finalised'. For one reason: God is a jealous God, like no other. This jealousy is constant with his love, grace, slow to anger and compassion. He has revealed himself over thousands of years, yes, through history. But when man worship other gods, God will burn with a jealous anger. Because these gods are not real gods that can save. I think this is something people find hard to accept today, for we are living in so much grace.
Let me put it this way. I am a mother, i have children of my own. I suffered 9 months carrying them and then the labour pain, and then the sleepless nights nursing them when they're sick. One day they grow up. Then they start to call another woman 'Mother' and forgot about me. I'll burn with a jealous anger.
For me i welcome Da Vinci Code, Gospel of Judas etc because when the intelligent ones start to question and start digging, they will find out the truth. I was a skeptic like you. Real gold is not afraid of fire and I hope you'll find out the truth too if you have a real open mind.

There are a few things to consider. First, Catholicism is NOT the only one that believes what you mention. Alot of the Bible Fellowship, Baptist and fundamental churches believe the same
thing. The only issue is the Passion. Most of our Churches
wanted you to go see it. They warned it was graphic, but worth
the watch.
Anyway, you are asking why religion is so hard and inflexible.
Well, the Bible was written by MEN, who were inspired by
FAITH. Now you get into where Faith ends and where religion
begins. Religion is where men get in the center of things and
decide what is acceptable, and what is not. Again, they will
say it is based on faith. It could be, but misguided. It is based
on how they were raised, and what their core values are. If
it raises questions or concerns, instead of facing them, men
will put it dismiss it, until forced to deal with it. If it is acceptable
with them, it becomes part of the religion. The benchmark for
all of them is God. Sure. The religion makes up WHO that
entity is, black, white, male, female, omnipresent, etc.
Faith is that core value system. The difference is when it
becomes a 'rule' then it's religion. We all know what we do
as 'people' screws everything up!
My opinion....

You make a good point, but perhaps haven't researched enough into all religious orders?
The act of converting, or even the belief that it's a mission,,,, is wrong, on many levels....One being the inability to accept anothers faith based system as being Ok for them.
Many "religions" have rules that may be, or border on "strict" or seemingly "unreasonable" at the very least, and certianly we need not accept their concepts, but we should be tolerant of the fact that what they grew into, or decided to be involved in, might be "working" for them.
As religion, is likely as "SENSITIVE" a topic as Politics is, I truly doubt as a species, we can be privy to any answers that will placate or satisfy us. All we can do,,,and I've stated this often as Ever1Wolf,,, is to accept that what we find, enfold, enjoy,,,as a comfort zone,,,as it regards a faith/belief system, and as long as it works for us,,,is a very personal, often Private situation.
To allow others,,,even a deity, to define our lives,,,totally, is taking away from the possibilities available to us. Right/Wrong, hardly matter in our life, other than how we are judged, and MIGHT be in some AFTER LIFE.
I've been Clergy for awhile, and well educated in all phases of belief systems. I still think,,, no! I know!!! our greatest freedom as a species, is "choice".... Having tolerance for someone elses SYSTEM is more the secret to peace and harmony than disputing what another believes in.

Well maybe the problem is that you haven't given God a chance with his rules. Because people always want the rules stretched to suit themselves and lifestyle. We also forget that God is precise and to the point and never waiver on promises. All of this stuff the Da Vinci Code are made to distract you from the truth

You can't just take a book and say "Hey it says it's written by Judas, it must be true, why don't we add it." Besides the Bible is canonized, which means it can't be added to and nothing can be removed. Scholars take a look at the scriptures they find and study them to see if there's any Godly authority in them. Obviously Judas' book doesn't agree with any other part of the Bible so it's not going to become a part of it.
The world is evil. God allowed the devil to roam the earth, therefore it's going to be evil.

All religions are finalized to some extent. All religions require something, believe seomthing, that is why they are different from other religions. The only thing required in Christianity is an acceptance of God's grace to you, his undeserved love. Christianity is about grace. We cannot do anything to get God's favor, that is why it is called grace. Nothing you can do is perfect enough, that is why Christ was perfect for you. Once you have experienced the grace of God, then you desire to do things that please him as mentioned in the bible. But it is not about trying to earn his love, that has already been given.

Lord knows this world and come Christians are being deceived. But the BIBLE said it was going to be this way. Hun I'm not a catholic. I am with Christian Pentecostal Holiness, but it's not about that. I believe solely in God and his word the Bible and whatever it says. I do watch things like pokemon and the Da vinic code to see what it's about, but the thing that is final is my decision whether to accpect it or not. It's everyone's right to do that hun. Yes the bible (God's word) makes it clear and to the point, its two ways and that's it. Either Salvation and eternal life forsaken all that is evil and unholy and living right or except what is worldly and pleasurable to the flesh and your desires and perish in Hell. It seems final because it is. You have a choice to make in your life. That's what it's about and God gave all men that freedom to choose. You don't have to accept this way, but for me it's the way that works for me. Living right according to the Lord is a hard way because its straight and narrow (one way). But there are so many things in this world that is easy to pick up with and roll with it and leads u to a path that destroys. For me I'd rather live right even if that means being talked about, mistreated, and accused of being closed minded. I believe my reward is far greater with God than it is here on Earth for the bible says that Heaven AND Earth will pass away, but the word will live on forever and that's God. I'd rather live on with God forever than perish in damnation. How about you?

It is really very simple. Either there is a God or there is not. For Christians God has provided enough proof for us to devote our lives to him.
If there is a God, then he sets the standards, not us. We get very uptight about our rights and freedom of speech, but if we were to go to many countries in this world, we would have to be silent and accept the standards that they have there. How is it that we think that we can do what we want with God who has all power?
We can not get to God without Jesus. Either we accept the salvation that Christiainity offers us or we accept the penalty of spending eternity in hell.
Christianity is wide open to all who desire to receive it.
Joh 1:12 "But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:"
2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
In the 6th chaper of John Jesus began to tell the multitude what they had to do to have everlasting life. When he finished they all went away. Jesus turned to the remaining 12 disciples and said something that should tell us how he feels about us not accepting his will.
(John 6:67-68) "Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away? (68) Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life."
We have to take the same attitude that Peter and the others disciples took. Where else can we find eternal life?
He does not want anyone to be lost, but he will not change. He has provided all of the proof that we need and if we won't believe it, it is just like believe that you are immune to all infectious diseases. You will have to accept the protection God offers us you will have to pay the penalty. Before you criticize Christianity as being closed, you need to read your bible for yourself and find out what God requires of us.

that is common to ask even if perception contained in the regulation of gravity discourages open-mindedness. once you're confident that one element is actual, then you actually do not believe the different is actual. it really is in simple terms good judgment. Is that being closed-minded? because if no one were confident about some thing we ought to stay in a exceedingly humorous international.

i think christianity is the most most open of all religons ... we have progressive thinking... somethin many religons are forbidden to have... however like in every walk of life there are different schools of thought....
Some are old and some new.... i guess the same problem is faced in our very homes... i guess thats why our thoughts clash with our parents....
the reason probably why books or rather gospels have have been looked down upon is since they threaten te very foundations christianity is based upon....
For example.... you love your parents .. and you believe and trust them of all your life .YOUR OPINION OF THEM IS FINALISED. and suddenly someone comes and tells you something different about them ... i believe you too would get very defensive...
the same thing with religon...
Also if rules or law werent strict and final we wouldnt even bothe about them... since they are.. we give them a second thought
P.s : i dont believe in religons though
