I read so many letters that make no sense because they only use three letters of a word out of 10. Is it because they are not sure how to spell, uneducated or just lazy? I realize that maybe they think they are cool, or is it possibly just what kids do today?

You must also take under consideration, that this is the world wide web and not all speak perfect English. But do try to do their best. Also some use shortcuts to save time, so they can respond quickly. Some do it to be silly and some do it as a way to make you think they are young kids that are not very smart.

Because they do not know the proper English. They think they are cool, but I think it is laziness and retardness

its like a habit now. Standard english is not a tradition now. Nobody is in a habit in writing standard english anymore, thats one reason what you can say english literature is rapidly declining.

i am pretty sure they know how to spell, it is just habit and it is also good if you want to get something typed fast.
