You probably do have split ends if you've never got it cut. I think it is good to get a trim every once in a while. But to address your problem i had the same thing happening when my hair was long. I ask my stylist and she said it is normal to lose up to 100 hairs a day. Because our hair is long it looks like so much more. Have you noticed a thinning of your hair (i didn't) or are you just seeing how much you are losing and it looks like alot? If you don't notice a thinning i wouldn't worry. I would go get a trim though and maybe salon conditioner.

If you are not doing anything different with your hair, regarding style or products, you may want to continue some aspects related to your health. Are you stressed? Have you been missing meals or eating a lot of foods with not much nutritional value? If you are losing large amounts of hair you should see your doctor, there may be something medically wrong that can be diagnosed and treated if caught quick enough.

maby hereditary or age? my unkle is bald at 34. he started loosing it in his 20s. did your mom or gramma have this problem too? but you might have a vitamine deficiency. are your skin and nails turning iky also? talk to a doctor. they make shampoos to stop hair loss but most people i know say it doesnt work. you might have something wrong with your scalp that needs special medicine. not department store stuff. but definatly ask a doctor asap. you wouldnt want to put some stuff in there that would react and kill what you have left. if you want an at home thing, try drinking 2 tablespoons of pure flax seed oil a day. my friend uses it and her hair is to die for! also maby try taking pure MSM. its healthy, organic, and it works but it takes a while.its a white powder that you take. i suggest putting it in capsules. if you stirr it in a drink it tastes awful. it helps hair growth and it did wonders for my skin and nails. but it took a long time to start to show improvment.

It could be something as simple as stress or something as complex as a hormonal imbalance. Any other symptoms? Important question to ask is....Are your periods regular or have you seen a change in frequency, duration, or amount?
